Probleme with whatsapp's notifications

Hi homies

I use a iphone 4s with iOs 7.1.2

This morning, i opened whatsapp, and a grey window appeared, installing some whatsapp update, or whatever (i didnt choosed to install this update, it started when i launched whatsapp)

After that, my whatsapp changed a few, some emoicones get bigger on chats etc..

And worst of it, i got, everytime i launch whatsapp, and often when i launch facebook-messenger, a windows that pop up, asking me to "Activate Notifications".

It force me to allow the barrers notifications, and if i do not, the message pop and pop again everytime i open whatsapp (even if i dont "close" the app).

Here are screenshots of the windows popping up when i launch whatsapp & fb-messenger

To be fair, i hate those banners, it hides the "back" button in most of apps, and time, etc, and i will get crazy if i have that message every time i open my app..

I tryed find a answer on google, friends, other forums... but no solutions for now! I am not the only one on this case, some friends get a new phone, or reinitialisated it today, and that appened too!

Please help me on that, or i will drop my phone from 10th stair :O

Best regards

Tyler

Hey Tyler, I'm facing the same problem. They have now an option to contact them and attach a screenshot. I suggest you and everyone that agree that it doesn't make sense at all to display that screen EVERY time you open whatsapp, even when you are switching between apps, to send them a message about this annoying alert. It would be fine if they display that once and a while or when you start up the app, but not enforce the user to change something that he chose to be like that.

I sent a message complaning and here is their reply:

Hi,

Thanks for your message.

Thank you for your feedback, and we apologize for the inconvenience the notification and microphone alerts have caused. The next version of WhatsApp will present these alerts to you much less frequently. Unfortunately we cannot comment when the next version will be released, but we hope to get it to you as soon as possible.

Notifications let you know when you've received messages when WhatsApp is not open, and the phone's microphone setting allows you to use to our Voice Messaging feature. Because these settings will allow for the best possible experience with WhatsApp, we encourage you to keep these settings turned on. In the current version of WhatsApp, you will see an alert to turn on your notifications or microphone until these settings are turned on.

If you do not wish to receive alerts about new messages, you can use your iPhone's **Do Not Disturb** feature :http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5463

Welcome to Whatsapp by Facebook. That is why Facebook Messenger is doing the same thing. Both apps belong to Facebook. I don't have a problem with Notifications being on but I will NOT give Whatsapp microphone access as I only send text messages. Makes one wonder why Whatsapp (or should that be Facebook?) is so desperate to have access to our phone's microphones?

I will just keep using the old version until it won't work anymore. Whatsapp is there for my convenience, NOT the other way around.

The Facebook invasion in Whatsapp is just going to get worse and worse. You have been warned....

Why I hidden all alerts? Because sometimes I working on my phone, friends may use my phone, in these situations you really don't want those banner alert disturbing you, or others can see who is messaging you.

And now, whatsapp & FB messenger using such way to force user to change their setting, otherwise I will see this pop up alert every single time. haha Big thanks! I ll move to wechat and line.

Hi Ladies, Gents,

Nice... (ironical)

Now they changed something, now you get the old “big” hint when you open the app in the first place. If you minimize it afterwards and reopen it again a "small" hint appears... (see screenshot).

That still s.u.c.k.s. people from Whatsapp alias Facebook!!!

I've the feeling the general appearance has something to do with the lapse of time between you use Whatsapp, regardless if you close it completely or leave it in hibernate… or maybe it’s just random ;-)

Cheers, Markus
