Using a TP Link Extender (TL-WA850RE) on a MAC OS?

Does anyone have any experience of setting up a TP Link Wifi Extender, specifically TL-WA850RE, on a MAC OS?

Have followed instructions that came with the unit, by initially setting up using the Ethernet Cable, but after 2 weeks of trying i still cannot connect to the internet using the Wifi Extender when the cable is unplugged. There seems to be no IP address and TP Link support cannot understand why either - to say it advertises it will work with a MAC OS on the box, it sure is not easy and i am yet to find a solution after a couple of weeks.

I can connect through a Windows touch pad and also Samsung phones using the extender connection, but since the MAC is my main machine, if i cannot find a solution i will simply have to return the product.

Has anyone else out there had a similar issue?

Thanks.

antciren: Yes is 2017, and so far there is no much answers for this issue, perhaps because I'm from Mexico these Tp Link Extenders are so popular right now in my country. The firmware for those are actually 4.0, but yet MacOs is not connecting. I've read the Luixu's answer, and well I have a Windows computer and an iPhone as well and I used both to try to configure it, the thing is that right now specifically the TP Link TL-WA850RE does not allow to change the extender connection password, it uses the same of the host modem. So I tried to change the modem password, or even remove it, and the problem is the same. The more I read discussions on the web, I can realize that it would be best to buy another extender.

I had the same problem, instead of logging in the router with the iMac (impossible) I did it with my iPad, I guess you can do the same with an iPhone.

-Disconnect the iPad from your wifi network and connect it to the TP-Link repeater.

-Open the web browser (I use chrome) be sure you don't have any other open tab, just the one to access tptlinkextender.net

-The configuring page opens, from there follow the steps of detecting your network and adding the password.

*If your MAC address is hidden it'll appear without name, in that case you have to configure it manually (write the name on the space for that)

Now go, be happy and do good.
