Macbook Pro Retina (mid-2014) trackpad and screen freezes randomly

I got a new Macbook Pro Retina (mid-2014) a few weeks ago and the trackpad and screen randomly freeze even when the only thing I have open is Safari. In other words, it doesn't feel like my computer has a 2.6 GHz Processor and 8 GB 1600 Mhz Memory. My downloads folder also constantly has the loading bar under it; it goes away when I remove it from the dock and replace it, but appears again after downloading one thing.

Any suggestions? This is really frustrating when I got a new Macbook so that I wouldn't have to deal with these types of problems. They're all issues that I never encountered with my Macbook Air (mid-2011).

Just for clarification: do these problems occur since day 1? And if not: did you install anything since then?

I didn't notice problems immediately, but it didn't become apparent until it happened several times. I haven't installed anything out of the ordinary (Microsoft Office, Skype, Stata, etc.)

I have the same issue. My 2014 15 inch rMBP (new base model with 16GB ram) freezes when connecting to an external display. I have tried Apple support and they don't know what's going on/can't isolate the issue. It only happens when connecting to an external display for me. I had a 2012 cMBP 15 inch and it did not do this...

I have had the same problem recently, I got my macbook pro retina (mid 2014) about 10 days ago. and the track pad and keyboard freezes since yesterday. I just had the same problem again earlier this day. Wondering what is the problem.
