Using iPhone 6 (T-Mobile) On Straight Talk

Does anyone know if I could purchase the iPhone 6 (T-Mobile version) to be used for Straight Talk. Is this basically an unlocked phone? I couldn't really tell by the description and I don't really want to wait for it to be offered within the Straight Talk plans. I would just get a T-Mobile plan, but their service isn't the best in the area I live. Thank you in advance.

After speaking with the folks at an Apple store and them not knowing if it would work on straight talk, i decided to go to a T-Mobile store and spoke with a rep there. They were not quite sure as well, but the guy did inform me that if you purchased an iPhone 6 from apple and had no contract associated with it, then T-Mobile can give you the code to "unlock" it from them so i can be used with other GSM carriers. This gives me some hope. So I still pre-ordered the phone.

I was thinking the same thing. I went ahead and ordered the iPhone 6 plus T Mobile GSM version (no contract). I have done this in the past with Straight Talk. I am currently using the iPhone 5 with a T Mobile GSM sim from Straight Talk and it has been working just great for me for almost 2 years now. So, I am thinking the iPhone 6 will work the same way as long as you have the T Mobile GSM NANO sim card from Straight Talk. I am not guaranteeing this will work, but I don't see why it wouldn't. Here is the link from Straight Talk to order the Sim for 7 bucks. http://www.straighttalk.com/wps/portal/home/shop/sims Just select T Mobile GSM and enter your zip code and it will take you to the purchase page. Be sure to purchase the Nano Sim Card and not the regular sim or the micro sim as the iPhone 6 does not support those.

Currently, Apple claims they are not selling an 'Unlocked' version of the iphone 6 but I would guess that the TMO version is going to work. I think this version is actually unlocked but Apple calls it the TMO version because it comes with a TMO SIM card in it.

My iPhone 5 from ATT does work on the Straight Talk network because in my region ST is merely reselling the ATT network. Additionally, last month Apple needed to replace my iPhone 5 for a manufacturer defect and they gave me a TMO iPhone 5 as the replacement. This phone is definitely unlocked, as I've used it not only on the ST/ATT network here in the US but on TIM's network with a TIM SIM card in Italy and on Vodafone's networks with Vodafone SIM cards in both Portugal and Hungary.

In some regions, ST is reselling the VZW network so I would assume in those regions the VZW iPhone 6 is going to work out of the box but again I think the TMO phone should work regardless of the network as it has all frequencies built in.
