Macbook Pro Stuck on Apple logo after hard drive switch.

Hi there, I recently bought a new macbook pro which I had set up and was running just fine. I then switched my hard drive from my old macbook (2006 black) which was running snow leopard. The Macbook pro will not move past the apple logo screen while the macbook starts up and willingly installs snow leopard on the new hard drive. I switched them back hoping that the macbook pro would recognize its old hard drive but no luck. I have a feeling its the old software as i read some where that you should not install older software on your mac than what it came with. Any suggestions please? I need it up and running for my school work. Cheers

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.4)

You shouldn't do stuff like this when you don't know what you are doing. Please put the original drive that came with your new MBP back into it. Depending upon what you may have messed up, you may still have a Recovery HD, so try booting from it:

Boot Using Command+R keys:

1. Restart the computer.

2. Immediately after the chime press and hold down the

"COMMAND" and the "R" keys together.

3. Release the keys when the Utilities Menu appears.

If you get this far, then do this:

Install or Reinstall Mavericks, Mountain Lion, or Lion from Scratch

Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.

OS X Mavericks- Erase and reinstall OS X

OS X Mountain Lion- Erase and reinstall OS X

OS X Lion- Erase and reinstall Mac OS X

Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible

because it is three times faster than wireless.
