Q: iMac Performance Problem with iPhoto

To see if memory (could be if y have 4 GB of memory) is the problem open Activity Monitor after/while using iPhone and look at memory pressure.

If green them memory is not a problem but may be a problem if you update to a SSD.
i updated my 2102 Mini to an SSD (kept the HD) and maxed ut memory to 16 GB

Sep 13, 2014 2:32 AMby Daniel Norman1,Thanks mate. To add some weight to your Hard Disk theory, I have just bought a WD MyPassport Thunderbolt RAID. I've connected and formatted it. I have then tried to copy my iPhoto library back across to it. It took a good 10 minutes "Preparing to copy". It then copied the first GB in about 5-8 minutes and I thought I'd cracked it (however, it was very sporadic). It's now sitting at 994MB and estimating "about a day" to copy!!! Bottom line, do you think I'll be wasting my time taking it back and swapping out for the quad core as it has the same spec (if not a bit bigger) hard drive?
