New Email password not recognised.
When you changed your password did you also update it on your iPad ? If not then go into Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars, select the email account, tap on the account name on the next screen, tap on SMTP on the popup to go into the outgoing settings, then tap on the primary server line on the next screen, and update your password
Sounds good but when I access SMTP the outgoing mail server stuff is shaded and inaccessible.
One of my accounts is a btinternet address, and I've now got that setup with their new settings (so not the old yahoo settings), so my outgoing server is now listed as mail.btinternet.com and with that the settings are not greyed out.

That also sounds good. Unfortunately, they have not migrated me to BT mail yet, I'm still on BTYahoo. Therein, I suspect, lies the problem.

But the new account setup works ok for me, and I can send and receive emails with it
I tried it. In fact, when I followed your link I found that I had tried it previously. It doesn't work for me. Really annoying and I appreciate your trying to help. It gets lonely wresting with this sort of issue.
And you've tried deleting the account via Settings and adding it back as a Yahoo account ?
Yep. Done that. Bizarre. Tried deleting the yahoo account and the BT one. Same result.
Just thought you'd like to know that I tried to reset again this morning to Yahoo..and it worked! Thanks for your time and efforts. much appreciated.
I have this problem too on my iPad. I have no problems receiving email, but get the password incorrect message when trying to send an email. When you say you tried to reset again this morning; what exactly did you do? Did you again change your password>
Just a suggestion here. In the Mail account settings, you enter the password for receiving (IMAP or POP) and the password for sending (SMTP). It seems to think the SMTP password is optional, but it is not. Check the SMTP settings for the account.

Go to settings on iPad Email Accounts delete account then add back with new password .

I changed my password for BT mail yesterday when setting up my windows phone. Now my ipad will not sens emails as it does not recognise the password. I can log in from my windows phone and laptop OK. Why? BT couldn't help!
