I can't add a new event to my calendar on iPhone.

I can't add a new event to my calendar on iPhone. The plus sign is greyed out and even when I try it with Siri it says "Sorry. I can't do that right now". I did my due diligence and searched all over the forums and internet and I can't fix this. There was a listing in a forum where a lady had this same symptom but it looks like toggling iCloud worked for her. Not for me. I went into Settings>iCloud and turned off Calendar and then turned it back on. Still nothing. I even went to iCloud Backup and turned it on then back off and still nothing. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

I GOT IT TO WORK!!!! After I saw that there were no events, I looked on the bottom, where it says "Today Calendars Inbox" and I clicked on 'Calendars'. There were only 2 calendars showing... US Holidays and Birthdays. I tried to scroll down and the top said "updating" or "refreshing",something like that, then all of a sudden It Added AlliCloud, Home, and Work to the calendars list. The plus sign is red again. I wonder what could have causd that glitch?

See if you can go to your Calendars App and select a previous event to see what Calendar the event was added to (iCloud or Yahoo). After that is determined you can go to www.iCloud.com or calendar.yahoo.com and add the event there to see if it will populate on your device. Another troubleshooting step is deleting the iCloud account from your device and also deleting the Yahoo account. Then check to see if you can add an event without it syncing to a email. If you can then it may have just been a bug and you can add both accounts back and try adding the event again. I would also recommend only using one service to sync your Contacts, Calendars, Reminders, etc. Such as either iCloud only or Yahoo only, as using multiple accounts means your data is spread around and can be hard to isolate when something goes wrong.

Thanks for the quick response, nlbconcrete. I did try the sleep/wake/home reset already and I also checked each account to make sure calendar was on. There are 2 accounts, iCloud and Yahoo. Both show Calendars as "on". When I toggle the iCloud off and on i get the "Turning off" and "Turning on" messages respectively. But when I try to turn off calendars for Yahoo it says "Delete from my phone" (All yahoo calendars will be removed from your phone). I'm afraid this might delete all entries in my phone.

Yes it will delete all the entries from your iPhone, but Calendars works the same as Contacts, Notes, and Reminders. That means that although you can see your calendar Events on your iPhone that are really stored on an Email provider's server. In this case your calendar entries are stored on Yahoo's server, so deleting them from your iPhone will not delete them permanently and you should always be able to see your calendar events for yahoo at calendar.yahoo.com

Crap... I'm not out of the water yet!!!! I can now click the plus sign, label the event, select the time... but when I click 'Done' it briefly appears on the event list then it disappears!!!!

Nevermind. It DOES work. I got so excited when the plus sign turn red, I must've scrolled to 2013. The plus sign is now red and I can add an event succesfully. Not sure what caused those calendars to disappear though.
