iTunes playback skippy on separately purchased epi of series

I bought an episode of a series on iTunes. Later, I bought the entire series. All episodes in the series have good playback, except the one I first purchased on its own. I've tried re-downloading from the Cloud. But still bad playback: skippy picture.
