I've got a new iPad Air and have restored it from my most recent iCloud back up which was from my iPhone 5, I no longer have this phone. Everything seems fine except that my entire camera roll is missing. How can I get my photos back?
That happened because you cannot restore the camera roll from an iPhone backup to an iPad, you can only restore it to an iPhone or iPod Touch. Your options would be to either purchase one of these, or ask a friend who owns one to back up their device to their computer using iTunes, then allow you to restore your iCloud backup to recover the photos. They could then restore their iTunes backup to recover their data.
Thanks for your reply, I didn't realise that the camera roll wouldn't go over to the ipad, feel much better now I know I can get the photos back.
You're welcome. Also be aware that Apple will delete iCloud backups after 180 days of inactivity so you'll need to recover your photos prior to that.
