Several Problems using email

OK, I have problems using the email both via the web and via my email client software.

iMac running Mac OS 10.7.5; Firefox web browser, Thunderbird email client.

First the web problems. I can save a draft message, but when I return to finish and send it, I can't either edit the draft nor send the draft. If I highlight a word in the draft and try to delete it, the entire draft is moved to the trash.

Now the email client software problems. I've set the client up using the server settings from Apple's KB article iCloud: Mail server settings for email clients However, iCloud rejects them as being invalid plus I'm told my password is wrong (the same password that works fine logging in via a web browser). Additionally, the Apple KB article says to use iCloud Preferences in Mac OS 10.7.4 and later but there isn't any place there that addresses the server settings.

Any help will be appreciated.

Don't know about the first question, but if you're running OS X 10.7.5 you should be adding your iCloud email account by checking Mail in System Preferences>iCloud. That will automatically configure it with the proper settings.

BTDT no T-shirt. There isn't any way at that location to check and see IF the proper server settings were in fact applied.

It doesn't work with either p01-imap.mail.me.com or imap.mail.me.com

Whether you can see them or not, the automatic setup should work. If it didn't I would try restarting your Mac and trying again.

According Mail.app>Preferences>Accounts>Account Information the server should be "p01-imap.mail.me.com" ; I'm assuming that this is what the iCloud System Preference sets but according to the KB article, it should be "imap.mail.me.com". I'll have to play around with it tomorrow.

That's normal. The "pxx-" prefix is always added when you automatically check mail in system preferences, presumably based on what region you are located in.

Make sure you double click on the draft to bring it up in it's own separate window. Then you should be able to edit it further.

Now a different problem cropped up - after sending the email, the window closes but the sent reply does not show up in ANY mailbox: Sent, Trash, In, etc. Any ideas?

In Mail's Accounts/Mailbox Behaviors preference pane check to see how you have Sent configured. Maybe change it, reboot and then change back to what you currently have.

My mistake; I should have clarified this is when I access my mail through my Firefox web browser via icloud.com/#mail. I haven't been able to get either Thunderbird or Mail.app to retrieve mail via icloud yet. I'm thinking of just using a web browser to access all my email.

Solved it. Went into the preferences, toggled the "Sent" mail off and on and now it it seems to work.
