Purchased app will not download!

I have purchased an app but it will not download. I have plenty of space, have done hard reset. Reset settings, but when I hit the download cloud I get a message saying that "I've already purchased this app and it will down load now" but it won't!!

iPad (3rd gen) Wi-Fi, iOS 7.1.2

Hey there Cmdiffy33,


It sounds like you are unable to download a specific app on the iPad. I would start by closing all the running apps on the iPad:


iOS: Force an app to close

Double-click the Home button.

Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.

Swipe the app up to close it.


When you have done that and restart the device and test the issue again:


Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset

Hi Sterling!

Thanks so much for your reply! At issue however is that it will not even show up on my screen as it's not a "downloaded" app. It is only seen by selecting my "Purchased" screen. then you see the download cloud, which when I click for a brief moment shows you the progress download circle, but quickly changes to a "pop up" screen saying that I've already purchased the app and it will now be downloaded for me. which of course it won't. Puzzlilng to say the least!

The troubleshooting I recommended initially is still where I would start. It sounds like the App Store app, and the iPhone need to be restarted outright, so go ahead and do that first.


If you have, or that does not work for some reason, I would next sign out of iTunes and App Stores in your Settings:


iOS: Sign in with a different Apple ID in the iTunes Store, App Store, and iBooks Store

  1. Tap Settings > iTunes & App Stores.
  2. Tap your Apple ID.
    If you see the option to Sign In, you can change your Apple ID now.

  3. Tap Sign Out.
    User uploaded file

When you sign out, restart the iPad one more time, and test the issue again.

Purchased app will not download!
