Q: is there malware on my account that needs to be removed so I am no longer a target for phishing emails?
Over the past few days I continue to receive a number of phishing emails regarding unusual activity on my iTunes account. I recognize these emails as fraudulent and have checked the purchase history on my account just to be sure, but wonder what I can do to stop the emails.
Is there malware on my account that needs to be removed so I am no longer a target for phishing?

No, there is no currently known malware that would result in this. I don't think I know a single Mac user that doesn't receive at least a few such spam messages. There has been a noticeable increase, probably due to the amount of media coverage that Apple and iCloud have recently received.
Once they have harvested your e-mail address, you should expect to see them periodically until you change addresses. I even get some sent to accounts that I have never sent a single message from.
