Q: iPhone 5 touchscreen not working???

I was sitting in the car playing a game on my iPhone and out of no where the touch screen stopped being able to be touched. The screen timed out and I can't even swipe to unlock. The screen isn't frozen cause my "dynamic wallpaper" still moves, and when I hold the lock button to turn it off it gives me the option to swipe to power off BUT I CANT SWIPE. I've reset it to factory settings and I've done the "hard reset" where you hold the lock and home button at the same time at least 10 times. Everything that I read on the internet says it's because of water damage, but it can't be because it doesn't have water damage. Anyone have any ideas? I've done just about everything I can think of. I can't get a new iPhone right now so I'm kinda screwed.

    Hi kyl3w,

If the touch screen on your iPhone is not functioning properly, I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article -

My iphone 5s just stopped working like every other iphone ive had. Sound works but screen stays black. Unreal apple calls themselves the best phone company its a joke, barely had the phone for a year. Then i try to force restart it but unfortunately my home button is broken just more proof apple products are garbage. Defiantly going to make a switch. Just wrote this reply to tell you all apple *****. No support from the company and no sympathy. Last time i spend a dime on any apple product.

mcicc: After switching as IT Engineer from Microsoft powered computers to Apple in 2009, non of our computers or iPad or iPhone have let us down for just a minute. Not one! This was never happen before.

So I have after more then 40 years of dayly professionell work with all kind of computers and devices never ever experieced such stable computers and software and Phones and iPad, like Apple has. Not one minute letting us down!

Now for first time ever I did the trick and dropped my wifes iPhone 5s into a cop of coffe and there it struggled for some seconds for survival. Gosh!

Black screen with stripes and some times just a week ghost picture... All the appointments and pictures and adresses and SMS and all the client who should called her this day... All gone. Catastrophic event btw for her business.

Anyway, the iphone did still work and after a replacement screen now the phone is death and I search the Web and come here to this blog try to find a solution.

But I can't blame Apple and Appleproducts for my own stupitity. Samsung devices we have in some departments of our Company are constantly on repair, or we get new ones over and over again. Never happen with one of our iPhones. So question is: are you extreme unfortunate, or do we others have extreme luck? Or are you fan of another Brand and try to spreat some rumours and negativity here? Or do you use or carry your iphone on a way, it is not designed for? Sometimes the user can be the weekest part in a relationship between man and machine....
