I got an iPhone 6 128gb space grey on 16th oct from the ometesnado store in tokyo

1. Stocks appear once a week or so, be persistent and try reservation at 12am everyday

2. From that nights observation stocks lasted for about 1min and Ginza and shibuya sold out first, would say try ometesnado first

3. Once reserved , just walk into Apple Store , show the reference email and walk out with your iPhone

4. It is tax free if you have a temp visa, I.e, you get it for the prices listed by Apple on their website

5. Apple Japan sells mode A1586 iPhone 6, which is the most versatile model and will work with any gsm/cdma/lte frequency

6. In India now and can confirm its working on Vodafone India without any problem

7. iphones don't have international warranty, sales rep was correct in saying your phone will be serviced in Another country , but you will have to pay for it.

How did you make a reservation?

This is the link to the reservation site. This link will start functioning from 12 AM onwards and stocks will last for a minute or two.

So start sharp at 12 am , if site is down, start refreshing. Usually around 12:02 AM the reservations begin.

Immediately enter your Apple id and enter the site

There is an option on the front page, where you can choose different stores and see if stocks are available(DO NOT waste time on this, directly type your id and enter)

p.s. DO NOT waste time and money going to the Apple store without reservation. For now the only way of buying an iPhone is through reservation.

if I reserve an iPhone, is it mandatory to buy it the next day ? If I get to reserve it suppose today, would I be able to collect it in 2-4 days?

unfortunately you have to collect it the following day itself and in the time frame you have chosen.

You get to select the time when you can pick it up, a time frame of 1 hour, eg 10-11am

Reservation website clearly states that , if you don't make it on time, your phone will be sold to someone else.

Is it also possible to make an instore reservation?

No, you can't for now. If you order it online they will ship it to your address.

Yes im back in India. The info provided above are based on my experience on the Apple website, during the 2 Weeks I stayed in Japan.

My last post on in store pick up was based on info provided by couple of my cousins who live in Japan and are still trying to get their hands on the iPhone.

Yes it will. As long as the sim is not locked to another phone. Having said that, I recommend you call up SoftBank and confirm the same.
