Let's start again, the iPhone 6 in Japan is Sim Free and unlocked to any network/sim card. You can use them with your sim card and you can use them back in your home country. But they have been unavailable for the last few weeks.

No, the iPhone does not have international warranty and never has had.  iPhone warranty has always been country specific, so if you buy the iPhone in Japan, then you only have warranty for Japan and nowhere else.

That is the way it has always been - warranty on the iPhone IS NOT international.

I had a chat with 3 employees from Apple.

I asked very clear: If i buy an iPhone 6 in Japan. Can i get service or replace it an Apple Store in Germany if it is broken?

    The answer was always yes.

That will be Apple Germany ,will it .??

Then ask them to give you a signed document confirming that if you have to take an iPhone purchased in Japan to Apple in Germany that they will provide all required warranty and post warranty support on the Japanese device as if purchased in Germany

There has been some argumentation regarding on whether iPhone 6 carries International warranty. I would recommend you to ask your Apple Store in your home country before you purchase their devices abroad. There are people that I know replace their iPhone and iPad back in their home country (UK and Australia) under warranty scheme without a problem, no question ask whatsoever. I think asking their staff to signed for what they said is unnecessary. If you are iPhone mania like myself, all I ever care is where could I get my iPhone 6 on the first place. As for warranty, I trusted Apple and let Apple alone worry about that. If Apple's warranty is not valid globally, they should have warn buyers who came with a passport for tax free iPhone 6.

IMPORTANT RESTRICTION FOR iPHONE AND iPAD SERVICE.

Apple may restrict warranty service for iPhone and iPad to the country where Apple or its Authorized Distributors originally sold the device.

Extract from current Apple iPhone warranty document

That  should clarify that the warranty still valid globally until the day they remove the 'may' word from the memo

I talked to the chat of the german Apple Online Store and i made two screenshots where the employees confirms that there will be no issues repairing an iphone from Japan or even replacing it.

I´ll ask them furthermore to send me a signed document.

So i just talked to a Apple Retail Store. You´ll get the service for any device bought abroad, except China.

Furthermore one thing is now clear to me concerning the SIM card unlocking or SIM card free issue in Japan.

If you are in Japan and you signed a contract to a japanese carrier for lets say 24 months. And after 6 months you leave Japan and your stay will be permanently in e.g. Germany.

In this case, there is noch chance to unlock your iphone. The japanese carriers are not doing this.

In my case, as i will be in 2 weeks in Tokio, i´ll take my german sim card with me and will activate it in the store to get sure. After this i can use the phone in germany.

I Just recently receive my new iphone 6 plus sim free from apple store japan, and yes it unlocked version. I was worried about the post that i have read before that it will locked to the first sim you put it (iphone 5 thread) but i already tried it with my softbank sim first then my own roaming sim from my country and i can say its really unlock version. You can swap sim cards without A problem. model is A1524
