I cannot open a project bundle. A message appears that it could not be opened. The file isn’t in the correct format.

I am having serious problems with Final Cut Pro 10.1.3 I have two project bundles (fcpbundle) that opened fine before but neither of them open well now. One loads, but the "loading..." "loading the project into the timeline" message appears and stays loading forever. The project never opens correctly. The other bundle when I try to open it, a message appears "The file “CurrentVersion.flexolibrary” couldn’t be opened because it isn’t in the correct format." "The file might be corrupted, truncated, or in an unexpected format."

For whatever strange reason, I'm able to open the library that puts "loading..." "loading the project into the timeline" by open -from backup- but all the files of the project are offline.

With the other bundle, someone in another discussion said to delete the flexolibrary and open it from fcpx and it would be fixed and I tried that and strangely it worked, but not all the way, only one project of the many that are in the fcpbundle appears.

Any other ideas of what I should do for that library and how I can restore it?

Either way. Either opening the library from FCPX or by double clicking the fcpbundle file.

Sorry to disagree, but you always see your FCPX library with an .fcpbundle extension

One thing I've noticed which I don't understand, is that if I right click to show the contents of the library and look at the original files, they are complete .mov files but they won't show in preview or in quicktime or in mpeg streamclip, it's like they are corrupted somehow, but I haven't changed anything since the last time I edited with them.

Furthermore, I don't know if you have the same experience, but the latest version of QT is super jencky now and doesn't open many files, it says all the time "Converting..."

Ha ha. Truly there are too many codecs, but this material was imported from a GH2 and is h264 material and worked fine for months. I can't believe I'm the only one who has seen that lately QT doesn't want to reproduce their videos?

Honestly I don't know how it happened, but the original media doesn't reproduce well and I have different problems with different libraries.

Has anyone used a program to fix quicktime .mov files?

Has anyone else had the never-ending beach ball loading icon and solved the problem?

.. only if you switch-on 'Show File extension' in the Finder prefs ... 😉

the symlinks, FCPX creates, are shown with a 'mov' extension either. But if FCPX losses the connection, no content is avail.

As Tom already said in his first post here: 'digging' in FCPX' database can corrupt things.

For good reasons, these 'bundles' are - normally - 'closed' packages ...

Did you ever get any useful information, besides the condescending replies? I've been working with the same library for months and have only this week started having the same problems you cite. The "Loading ..." process would start to go through the events and eventually hang on different ones. I created a new user and tried to open the library to the documentary my wife is working on and I get the "The file CurrentVersion.flexolibrary couldn't be opened because there is no such file" error.
