Nothing I've read says one way or the other and I can't find anything in the links posted here that reference it.

It definitely does not have WiFi or GPS, that it does through the iPhone. It does have an accelerometer and heart rate monitor. But agin the watch right now is one step up from a prototype. I expect a lot to change by the time it is released.

So I have been wondering about this after reading several articles and I can't get a confirmation either. Apple's online chat support won't even acknowledge the question and merely redirect me by asking about a future or existing order 😐

Only Apple can give you an official word. Perhaps you can make an appointment to go in and see one at an Apple Store and ask there.

Yes, it does. This thread was last active before the watch was released and the issue was resolved with the release of the device.
