MBP 15" half 2012 caps lock stuck

Good day

i have a problem with the onboard keyboard :

sometimes after power up, the CAPS LOCK key led turn on itself, but while writing the text is still lower case.

So it's just inverted. To reset it i found that i need to plug in an usb storage key, after few seconds the CAPS LOCK led will turn off.

I know it's strange but it seems a sw issue to me, it's annoying.

No problems running an external apple usb keyboard with external video and lid closed.

Running OSX 10.9.4 but got the same problem also before,

don't know if it' something i am carrying in the Time machine backup that i use after upgrading OSX with a fresh install.

Already tried SMC and PRAM reset, but after sometimes problem reoccurring.

Any idea? thanks!

Alfredo

Hi alf69mi,

If the caps lock key on your MacBook Pro does not work as expected, I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article -

One or more keys on the keyboard do not respond

Specifically the section titled “Some keys don't work as expected.”

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

Hi Brett thanks for the suggestions however i am still getting the problem.

Searching in google for "caps lock macbook usb" i see many users with similar problems, but no real solution till now.

Maybe only some mbp are affected and for sure it is usb related.

I think i will fresh install yosemite from scratch and see if it will change something.
