My sent folder is EMPTY but on the bottom it says I have 152 unread emails. How can I access these emails? They are taking up a lot of memory.

Unread messages are normally in your inbox, not your sent items folder.
What is in your inbox?
Is that a POP mail account or IMAP, do you know? If IMAP, it could be that there are 152 old sent messages on the server that your device is not downloading. Try getting mail with a web-based client on a desktop and see if there are items in the sent box there.
It is a POP account.
If you have that few real emails, I would just delete the account from the phone and recreate it.
Still wouldn't hurt to log in with webmail to see what might still be on the server, though.
