Sep 14, 2014 3:27 PM in response to ProfessorJordanby Loner T,If you have a MBP with internal Optical drive, you should use that as suggested.
If your MBP does not have a built-in Optical drive, create a ISO (or .cdr) using Disk Utility, and build a USB using the Bootcamp and the ISO and use that to install W7.

Sep 14, 2014 4:17 PM in response to ProfessorJordanby Loner T,Please see - Disk Utility 12.x: Duplicate a disk, CD, or DVD and Disk Utility 12.x: Create a disk image
Since you already have an internal DVD, you need not create a ISO/.CDR file. Use the DVD directly in the drive.

Sep 15, 2014 11:13 AM in response to ProfessorJordanby Loner T,Based on MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2009) and (15-inch, 2.53 GHz, Mid 2009) - Technical Specifications you have a built-in Optical drive. On the OSX side, can you insert the Windows DVD and see it in Disk Utility and Finder? To verify that your Optical drive works, insert a DVD that you know works on the OSX side and check in About This Mac -> More Info -> System Report -> Storage.

Sep 15, 2014 11:32 AM in response to ProfessorJordanby Loner T,If the Optical drive is good, and it can read the DVD, the only missing link that I can see is the Driver that Windows has to access the Optical drive.
Can you verify that you meet the requirements fork Windows 7 - Boot Camp: System requirements for Microsoft Windows operating systems
What version of OSX are you running? (Your signature says Mavericks, so you should be installing a 64-bit W7). Is your disk a 64-bit W7 installer?
