I have accidentally deleted photos to my iPad and at same time deleted the same photos from my camera memory card. Can anyone help retrieve them to either device

I have accidentally deleted photos imported to my iPad (model prior to Air) and at the same time I have deleted the same photos from my camera memorycard. Can anyone help retrieve them to either device As there were over 300 which cannot be replaced?

Do you have access to a PC? I'm not sure if you can do this on a mac, but there is 'undelete' software out there. (The last time I had to do this I found a software called 'emergency undelete'). Install that and then see if you can retrieve your files off your camera card. Theoretically, the photos are still there (as long as you haven't saved over them), you just need to use the software to allow your computer to see them

If you have time, have not used the storage device where the images may still

exist (not written over by new content) you could learn how to use this file

recovery application that is unusual and requires experimentation to fully use.

•PhotoRec (includes TestDisk) -- This is a free recovery utility

This can be set up to look for certain types of files in addition to some already set.

Also, this is not like most applications today that look sharp and do it all for you.

Good luck & happy computing! 🙂

You do not need a PC, a Mac will do it just as well, and you should be OK as long as the SD card has not been written to.

I had a similar problem about 2 months back. In Google I searched for 'Mac retrieve SD card deleted files' and got names of several programs that claimed to do it. I then found them in the App Store. First one failed, second one called something like 'US Data Recovery' did the trick. They are not very pretty-looking Apps, we're not talking 'Angry Birds' here, but it worked. It helped to have an idea of the file number of the missing shots, but at the worst you get a load of numbered pics to drag onto your desktop to search through. The deleted ones have a # in the filename on the card.

I have deleted the actual program and forget the name, but as it was in the App Store you should be OK.

Sorry, it doesn't have to be on a PC, that's just what I have experience with. Any undelete or data recovery software should retrieve the photos for you.

Not off your iPad, that is gone. But on the SD card those photo files are still there. As long as you haven't written over them or taken another photo. When you hit 'delete' you basically told your camera 'hey, you can use this space'. Until you take another photo, those files are still there.

If the deleted photos were in the Camera Roll album on your iPad they may have been moved to the Recently Deleted album. When photos are deleted from the Camera Roll on the iPad they are not immediately deleted. Instead they are moved to the Recently Deleted album. They will remain there for 30 days and then be deleted automatically. Check the Recently Deleted album. If the photos are there you can recover them to the Camera Roll album.
