remove U2 album from iPhone (it's not on my computer iTunes)

I haven't seen this U2 album related issue yet.

Following online advice, I hid on my iPhone via the iTunes matching thing (sorry, I'm not remembering the process exactly), so I don't see most of the album. But somehow I still see two songs. I am unable to delete them from my iPhone using the swipe method (that does work for other songs, I tested), or to delete it on my phone by any other method.

None of the U2 songs nor the album are visible on iTunes on my Mac. So I can't get rid of them that way.

Really frustrated by this and really really don't want any of these songs on my phone.

Thanks

Mac OS X (10.7.3)

Thanks for the reply. I did try that. It's off. Underneath it says: "Only music that has been downloaded to this device will be shown."

So somehow, it seems to think I downloaded them. (Which I suppose could have happened accidentally when I was first trying to get rid of the #@$% album). Only they also seem not really downloaded. I can't delete them like I can do a regular song. In the list of songs I see Iris (Hold Me Close) and Volcano. The swipe left to show the red delete box doesn't work on these two songs (it does on any other song in the list).

When I swipe, the delete box does not appear. Instead, the song starts to play.

Also..I do not subscribe to iTunes Match.

I am having this exact problem too. I followed all the steps but I can't get the songs off the iphone. When I try to delete it, the red "delete" button doesn't show up and instead it plays the song. Every song that isn't U2 has the delete button show up. It is extremely annoying since I really don't like U2 and can't get the songs off the iphone -_-'

Trying to delete the songs in the Music app.

In the iTunes app, the album appears in the Purchased list but as un-downloaded (the cloud with the arrow symbol). So can't delete them there because the album hasn't been downloaded.

Anyone from Apple want to weigh in on how I can get rid of these two rogue songs that I don't want and can't seem to delete?

If by hide them you mean going to Settings > iTunes & App Store. Under "Show All," try turning off Music

Then yes. That was supposed to hide the whole album. Instead it hid all but two of the songs.

If there is another way to hide them, I don't know about it.

They do not appear in the iTunes on my computer so can't hide anything there.

Sorry. Missed that link the first time.

Did that...hid the album on iTunes on my Mac. Synced the phone. And for good measure turned off the phone and restarted it. The two rogue songs are still there and unable to be deleted.

Already way too much time spent getting rid of this amazing free gift from Apple. And the issue is still not resolved. 😟
