Q: cannot log into Game Center only on my ipad

I can access Game Center fine on my iPhone 5s but the iPad cannot.  This seems to happen frequently.  I have tried restarting the iPad.  Removing the game, restart the ipad, try to navigate to the game in Game Center but Game Center just spins when loading games.  Again it worked fine on the iPhone.  I am running IOS 7.1.2 which seems to be the latest available to me.
