Q: change the lock time so it does not immediately require code

ipnone5-brand new-

Under Settings>Touch ID & Passcodes>Require Passcode is set to immediately and there is no way to change it. Very annoying when I am actually using the phone and touch top button to hide the screen, then touch it again to get back to what i was doing, i HAVE to put in a code. i WANT my phone to lock after 5 mins of inactivity but do NOT want the screen to lock every time i put my phone screen to black and need to get back in within seconds. Habit to turn off screen when not actually looking at the phone to preserve battery but this force to have to do an action to get back in is inconvenient. What is the work arount for this or HOW to deselect the require passcode immediately? On my old iPhone i could change the time required.

    Your post start with "ipnone5-brand new-" but the bottom says iPhone 5s. I suspect it is the 5s and that you have Touch ID on. Note the following quotation from iPhone 5s: Using Touch ID

    • Using Touch ID sets your Require Passcode setting to Immediately. You can still enter your passcode simply by sliding to unlock.

     

    I haven't seen any option or workaround, other than not using Touch ID but I don't find it inconvenient with Touch ID. You could provide a suggestion to Apple regarding this at https://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

    If you have an iPhone 5/don't have Touch ID, the problem could be related to a profile installed on the phone...do you have a Microsoft Exchange email account through your work?

     

    If so, they can require the passcode to be entered on the phone and you can't override this.
