imac start up problems

Hi guys, would appreciate you help and advice. I bought a refurbished Imac from the apple website at the end of june 2013 (it's a late 2012 21" model)

it has has been working great for the last year or so until the other day I went to switch it on and it wouldn't start up properly. As soon as the screen comes on there are lots of vertical blue/green lines on the screen (please see pictures below) the apple logo then appears but with a box around it! The spiral timer then appears before the iMac then crashes and reboots to give me the message seen in the other photo below. This then restarts again and continues without the computer ever booting up properly. the whole time during the process the vertical lines are visible on screen.

Does anyone know what the problem might be, I am absolutely gutted because i have only had it for just over a year and I don't have AppleCare

would appreciate any helpful advice

Check out the following:

OOW: Take your Mac to your local Apple Store or an AASP. Diagnostic testing is FREE!

Apparently you did not attach the photos correctly, they are not viewable. However your problem indicates a possible GPU issue, if you purchased AppleCare then simply call them and they will advise on how to proceed. If you did not buy AppleCare then your 1 year warranty period is up and you will need to take it into your local Apple Store for a free diagnostic. If you don't have an Apple Store in your area or know who your local AASP is in your area, one please click Contact Apple for support and service

Good luck.
