iPhone 5 won't restore - error 2001

Hi,

As the title says, I've been having a little trouble with my iPhone 5, running the latest iOS. A few days ago it started to be tricky to come out of the locked screen (with the screen staying black unless I tapped the lock button, then the home button again). Then, it switched of altogether. On connecting to a mains power source using the original apple lead, it went into the loop of the apple appearing, then disappearing. On connecting to iTunes via my mac, it was not recognised. I forced it into DFU mode (which only happens when connected to the power source - is this normal?) upon which it was recognised, albeit offering only a full restore. On selecting this option and ensuring I have the latest version of iTunes, it goes through the motions of retrieving software, preparing to restore iPhone, then brings up the error 2001 message. I have used different ports, restarted my mac and used a different cable, all to no avail and still with the same message coming up.

I think I've covered it all! Does anyone have any suggestions on what else I may try? The phone has been mine since new (at launch roughly) and is not jailbroken etc nor has it ever been.

Thanks in anticipation!

Dan

Hey vendann,

Thanks for the question. After reviewing your post, it sounds like you are not able to restore and are getting an error. Have you tried using a different computer? I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you resolve or isolate the issue.
