Sep 16, 2014 3:36 AM in response to davidfromlangportby arthur,- 10.6.8 is OSX. Any of the OS versions that start with 10 are OS X. X means ten. Hence the name. Maybe you mean Mavericks (10.9) or Yosemite (10.10).
- You should check and see if your hardware will be compatible with the new OS you are thinking of installing. OS X Mavericks: System Requirements
- Whether VMWare Fusion will run or run well with the new OS depends on your hardware, how fast your processor is, how much RAM you have, what version of VM Ware Fusion you have, and what other software you are trying to run at the same time.
- If you like, download Etrecheck http://www.etresoft.com/etrecheck , which is a small, free app developed by one of the contributors to this forum. It will generate a system report on your Mac, which you can post here, and I can have a look at it and give an educated guess at how well your Mac will function with the new OS +/- VMWare/XP.
- In the mean time, see if you can figure out which new OS you are referring to, Mavericks or Yosemite.
