It should be on your Hard Drive. This is a thread that discusses the problem. Pay attention first to the first reply which gives you which order to approach finding it.
There are some here to download.

I tried one of these for a Mac Mini a few weeks ago, but I couldn't get it working (used Disk Utility Restore to put it on a Flash drive). But that doesn't mean they all have the same problem. The one for yours might be fine. You will first have to identify exactly which one you should use.
If you've upgraded your iMac to a different OS, or even done a reinstall, the original AHT may be gone.
To check to see if it's still there, run this command in Terminal to show hidden files and folders. The AHT is hidden.
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles -bool true ; killall Finder
(To reverse: defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles -bool false ; killall Finder)
Then navigate to /System/Library/CoreServices. With hidden files and folders now showing, see if .diagnostics (AHT) is present or not.
And if nothing works, call Apple with the serial no. of the Mac. For a relatively small charge, they will send you the original disc where the AHT was located. That is, if it was a Mac that originally came with discs.
So, the AHT was not on the disc, but was able to access it by holding "Option+D" upon startup. 1 error found, 4mot/4/40000003: HDD - 1286 - Anyone know what that is? Couldn't find anything quite like that by googling.
