Q: My iSight camera

My computer is brand new, so should the iSight cameral be automatically working? When I try using photo booth it says the camera is not connected and it doesn't respond to Face Time calls because it is not connected.

Does this mean I need to take it back to the store?

iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9.4)

That's what I would do with a NEW Mac.  If it is something you can do yourself, ask them to show you how to fix it and make it work.  If you have saved any work or iTunes or app purchases, be sure to backup your important things before taking Mac for service.

If you want to try something on your own before taking it back, see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090.

(Over time, Apple has changed the built-in camera's name on newer Macs from "iSight" to "FaceTime" and then to "FaceTime HD." Regardless of the name of your Mac's built-in camera, the same info and troubleshooting applies.)
