Ios8 3g 2g toggle

IN ios 7 there used to be a toggle to turn 3g on and off, but now that I have upgraded to ios 8 it is replaced with enable or disable LTE. I am from India, is there any way I can get 3g / 2 g toggle back?

Because keeping 3g on is eating away at my batter. It dropped from 80% to 70% in 20 minutes on my iPhone 5.

Appreciate any help that can be provided.

Thank you.

When I turn off Mobile data, it turns off the internet completely.

Your solution doesn't work for me.

These are the options I have now in iOS 8, while below is the screenshot of iOS 7 options.

How do I correct this? It is affecting my battery life very dramatically.

When I went to sleep last night, my iPhone had 30% charging, and when I woke up in the morning it was switched off, completely drained off charging.

Regarding iOS8 cellular data option update.

Please Apple HELP!

It is very URGENT as it is hampering my iPhone5 experience.

Bring the old settings (iOS7) back otherwise battery life now (iOS8) is really bad.

There must be 3 options under cellular data like this:

1. Cellular data (2G)

2. Enable 3G

3. Enable LTE.

It'd be perfect for everyone (especially Indian iPhone users). It is just a minor update and many users will get satisfied.

Looking forward to hear directly from the experts at Apple.

I have same issue as topic starter. In my place, The GSM operator signal not good(3G signal). In ios7 I always disabled my 3G therefore i can stay in communicate. ITS VERY IMPORTANT FOR ME. Please Apple add this option for us.(Enable or disable 3G)

Plus in my country, there is only 3G-2G-1G-0G(:P) so LTE option is unusefull for my country people(Turkey). I downgraded ios 7 last night(just after update ios8 with great excite. I got dissappoint and downgrade to ios7). The only reason is that.

Sorry for my english. Thank you.

I am really fed up with 3G toggle issue... I really cant keep my 3G ON all the time.. It takes out my Battery & Mobile Bill & also Network..Requesting Apple to add this ASAP.... Otherwise i m very determined to Google Nexus... This Release from Apple doesn't seems to be Customer Focussed Approach.. Apple has focussed only a limited no of customers in limited developed countries. Too Bad..

None of the Indian Customers will be Happy with this release.

This is the latest update. I am also facing the similar issue and contacted vodafone about this. The reason is -- most of the carriers are now using it's default APN as 3G rather 2G now. Hence if you want to use 2G network, you have to recharge your phone with 2G data plan only. Switching option between 2G and 3G is no more.

Now the question might arise why it used to work in the last iOS 7.1.2. Here are 2 appropriate answers:--

1. Setting default APN as 3G is taking time to get applied on each mobile device.

2. When we update iOS 8, our mobile carrier setting gets updated automatically and in the latest mobile carrier update, default APN is configured for 3G.

That is complete BS. If what you said was true, I would not be able to switch b/w 2G and 3G on my Android tablet (call enabled) which is on the same carrier. It is the OS that stops us from doing so, not the carrier ! As such Apple needs to release an update to correct this mistake, or many will switch from Apple to Android because of this. No one wants their battery drained in less than a days use.

As i said earlier, on iPhone you are not able to connect to 2G because you just updated your mobile operating system which updated your carrier setting as well. As per my discussion with vodafone technical adviser, soon all numbers will have their default APN set to 3G if they are 3G enabled. So i believe few days later you android device will also suffer from the same problem. When you update your android device to the latest operating system, this setting will immediately come into effect.

I don't think Apple can do anything about this because it's a carrier related issue and vodafone has agreed on it. If you are using vodafone then I would recommend you to visit their store. Don't call at their customer care no as either most of the time it will get disconnected or you will find some idiot who doesn't know what to respond.
