Jan 3, 2015 3:33 PM in response to technowhizby ArtWindows,Really? That worked? So I dump 2 third party keyboards and then I'd have access to the shortcuts settings again without it freezing and going back to home screen?

Jan 3, 2015 3:47 PM in response to ArtWindowsby technowhiz,Ít worked like a charm for me. I reinstalled SwiftKey and deleted half a dozen others.
I really like SwiftKey.
The trick is to uninstall each one with a full power off reboot in between.
Make me a liar or a hero

Jan 3, 2015 4:08 PM in response to technowhizby iBarrett,NOPE. I don't even have and 3rd party keyboards installed so that is NOT a fix for everyone. Still crashing. Only thing I can do is turn off iCloud drive and HOPE APPLE ADDRESSES this long standing bug in an UPDATE.

Jan 3, 2015 4:43 PM in response to technowhizby ArtWindows,Were you having the same problem that we are? That's where, when you go to SETTINGS KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS, the screen goes black and then back to the home screen. In other words, NO WAY TO REMOVE or EDIT the shortcuts! Just confirming that you had the same difficulty.
Oh, and for everyone else, I was on the phone with AppleCare about 2 weeks ago, and I brought this issue up. She looked it up and said "yes, they're aware of the problem and they're working on it, however, it's NOT yet fixed in this latest update.. 8.1.2 .. " AT LEAST they're acknowledging that there's a problem and they're trying to figure it out. That's good news, I guess.. Still frustrating as I'd like to change some of my shortcuts that are driving me crazy each time I happen to put the magic combo of letters in.

Jan 4, 2015 1:45 AM in response to ArtWindowsby DavidFerrington,I Have just one 3rd party k/b (Emoji++), I've tried removing it. It didn't help. I'm not using iCloud Drive on any device. So no resolution yet.

Jan 4, 2015 3:14 AM in response to DavidFerringtonby DavidFerrington,UPDATE...
I can't explain why, but suddenly my shortcuts are partially working on my iOS devices. I thought I'd check my wife's iPhone 4s, this used to be mine and we used to share my iCloud account. When I got my 6 I rebuilt the 4s and restored a backup, created her an iCloud account (since we have family sharing now) and handed her the phone. Her shortcuts are working and always have (including her iPad Air 2). So I double checked my iPhone6 and iPad Air 2 and they work - in that they don't crash and do fill in the shortcut.
However, neither my wife nor my shortcuts are syncing via the cloud. And mine aren't syncing to my MBA.
So some progress, but not a resolution.

Jan 5, 2015 11:15 AM in response to iBarrettby technowhiz,I understand how frustrating this is and how it gobbles time troubleshooting. An Apple tech explained to me how important it was to do a COLD restart...shut down ALL your apps, then shut down completely, wait until phone is totally shut off, then restart it half a minute later.
Swiftkey is a great third party app and I ended up registering my Iphone 6 plus on their cloud service and I'm happy as a clam.
I guess I just got lucky. I'm still rebooting my Iphone almost a dozen times a day on other issues.

Jan 5, 2015 11:25 AM in response to technowhizby ArtWindows,Honestly, I don't think you're having the same problem that others are.. It's not working by doing the full reboot, taking out keyboards, etc.. It's been another waste of time, you're right. Appreciate your trying to help, but I haven't heard from you that you were having the same problem with shortcuts SETTING button. This is the problem.. The shortcuts that are currently in the phone work, but I CANNOT get into Settings to edit or delete or add any new ones. When you press SETTINGS and press SHORTCUTS, the phone goes black and then back to home screen.. NO WAY TO EDIT, etc.. Can you confirm that this was the problem that you're saying you fixed? Thanks.. that would help.. R

Jan 5, 2015 11:49 AM in response to beatrizarcerby technowhiz,I guess I got lucky to solve this. Here's what I did before...
1. I Shut down every app on my Iphone (I have an Iphone 6 plus which takes a double click on the home button and then drag them off the screen)
2. Removed ALL my third party keyboard apps. I removed half a dozen of them and tested every time I deleted one.
I was happy to reinstall Swiftkey later after I got all my shortcuts back.
3. Shut off my Iphone completely. Waited the half minute or so for my phone to become cold and dead.
4. I have one really FLAKY 3rd party half-keyboard app called "One-Handed Input"
(which I paid for) which took TWO uninstalls to get rid of. Make 100% sure you shut off full access in Settings... that will remind you to uninstall any third party KB apps you forgot about. If you look in Settings...General...Keyboards...you should just see "English" in there. Add your third party stuff after you've solved your problem and can test any new apps you install.
5. All the best..these forums have helped me hugely and I hope my method will help. Please let me know if you have success.

Jan 5, 2015 12:01 PM in response to ArtWindowsby technowhiz,I got my shortcuts back AND managed to re-install Swiftkey and my shortcuts worked (which didn't before). I'm REALLY suspicious of keyboards asking for access in Settings.
Is there another App that might be the culprit? I deleted every App I could think of that might cause the problem then tested then reinstalled just the swiftkey.
BTW I'm convinced the Apple App Store App and Safari are flaky too. It wouldn' t let me make a comment or complain about another app I used and I stopped using Safari as much as possible. I can't unselect Safari as the default browser which I find totally annoying. Sometimes Apple's parroted "Security" excuse is totally lame.

Jan 5, 2015 12:33 PM in response to technowhizby DavidFerrington,You know, I'm not convinced you've got the same problem. But it does look like there is some underlying problem that is more serious. I rarely have to reboot my iPhone6 and I don't have any problems with Safari or AppStore.
I would suggest removing SwiftKey and rebooting, leaving SwiftKey off for some days to see if you are still having other problems.
If you are, do a hard reset (hold both home button and the PowerButton until the phone is off - ignore the 'Swipe' request), then power on as usual. Try again for a few days before putting SwiftKey back on.
I have just tested my shortcuts again and a new entry on the phone has been sync'd to my MB Air, so although I have a load of shortcuts on my phone which haven't sync'd - it looks like new one are :-)
