Oct 2, 2014 2:58 PM in response to joopitertwoby KevinC,I agree, not what I wanted to do, but I re-entered my shortcuts and thus far have stayed. I do not use iCloud either.... and will not, so I hope the tried and true backup through iTunes will continue to work (I have my doubts on this )...

Oct 2, 2014 9:32 PM in response to beatrizarcerby newsboysgrl777,I think I figured it out. They disappear when you have predictive text on. Simply turn that off and they all reappear and work fine. Hopefully Apple realizes this and fixes it.

Oct 2, 2014 9:51 PM in response to beatrizarcerby Ostrowsky S,Hello,
This iworked for me:
1- Disconnect your iCloud account:
Settings ➔ iCloud / scroll to bottom
Choose to keep iCloud data on your device.
2- grab a coffee.
3- Re-log into your iCloud account:
Settings ➔ existin account
Choose to merge data with existing data
4- grab another coffee
5- Go check on your shortcuts from time to time while savoring that delicious coffee.
After a (short) while, the shortcuts should reappear.
Be gentle, have an open mind, don't chastise them, don't ask where they were...
6- Of course, do all this while connected to the internet...
7- If this doesn't work, try again after turning guided access to off !
Settings ➔ Accessibility
It's been known to play bad with all things keyboard related (especially 3rd-party keyboards...)
happy typing !

Oct 3, 2014 12:54 PM in response to Ostrowsky Sby GeoFan49,Nope. My iPad keyboard shortcuts do (sometimes) show up in settings.. general.. keyboard.. shortcuts.. but none of them work.
Tried the above. No joy.
This seems to be a completely random and intermittent bug in iCloud or iOS.
Some of the workarounds may seem to work for little while, but then the problem comes back within hours or days.

Oct 6, 2014 11:31 AM in response to Tavo_deUby Eric Shawn2,I just realized that too. However, when I was trying to fix another issue (iCloud Drive kept wanting to update, spinning wheel would not disappear), in turning off all things connected to iCloud, and then signing out (while keeping data on my phone), I did manage to see Documents and Data option in the ON position, so I turned it off (which I prefer). It fixed the iCloud Drive update issue. But now I no longer see the Documents and Data option under iCloud. Tried re-doing what I did before to see it, but no luck.
Oh Apple. You've got plenty of worms in your core these days. What happened?

Oct 6, 2014 1:58 PM in response to GeoFan49by Eric Shawn2,So after playing around with this issue some more, as well as the disappearing Documents and Data setting in iCloud, I've come to the conclusion that both these issues have something to do with iCloud.
You don't have to restart your phone, just sign in and out of iCloud. At least this is the case for me. I've tried this several times (shortcut has disappeared 4 times since my last post), and each time made the shortcuts come back, as well as the Documents and Data setting. Beats having to restart your phone, but still a huge inconvenience. Also, when the shortcuts came back, they worked fine for me. And turning off Documents and Data "off", made it disappear from the settings. The only way to get it to come back is signing out and back into iCloud.
"Apple...It just doesn't work." lol With the huge phones (yes, I find the iPhone 6 too big for my use), and these headache updates, I'm being forced to look into Android phones. The way I see it, if I have to deal with the hassles of Android phones on an iPhone, I might as well pay less for it. And I can choose a size that suits my needs. Just sayin.

Oct 7, 2014 2:45 PM in response to DanCJby themarkofbooks,This occasionally helps for me, but then they disappear again randomly.

Oct 7, 2014 2:46 PM in response to Eric Shawn2by themarkofbooks,You can also get the Documents & Data toggle back by turning ON Passcode. Passcode also uses Docs & Data, so turning it on in iCloud also turns Docs & Data back on.
-
Oct 7, 2014 2:50 PM in response to MightyMacby themarkofbooks,You can also get the Documents & Data toggle back by toggling on "Passcode" -- Passcode requires Docs & Data syncing and so will reinitiate Docs & Data.

Oct 7, 2014 3:41 PM in response to beatrizarcerby themarkofbooks,Just had success in restoring shortcuts: will update this post if the shortcuts disappear again.
Here's what I did:
1. Turn off predictive suggestions (Settings>General>Keyboard>Predictive "off")
2. Turn off Documents & Data (Settings>iCloud>Documents & Data>Documents & Data "off")
3. Wait 5 minutes
4. Reboot
5. Turn on Documents & Data.* Leave Predictive suggestions "off"
We'll see if that stays...
*My "Documents & Data" toggle disappeared and didn't reappear even after the reboot. However, toggling "Passbook" on will force Docs & Data on as well, at which point it reappears.
