Nov 2, 2014 12:32 PM in response to TheLatmanby Buffsters,I'm using an iPad Air, so this may not work, but I was getting the same message "Call using iPhone failed". I restarted the iPad, went to Settings-->iCloud--> and signed in. Suddenly I could make a call from the iPad.

Jun 7, 2016 6:39 AM in response to billreadmeby rad409,This fixed the problem for me. It's worth emphasising that even if your Mac has a wired connection AND an active wi-fi connection to the base station, with the wi-fi connection second or lower in the 'service order' queue in network preferences, you can't receive calls on the Mac. The wi-fi connection has to be the only one or else first in the service order queue.
