Feb 19, 2015 5:59 AM in response to Zeonpaladinby guimartins,I have been facing the exactly same problem as the first post (also have bought my iPhone 5S in NYC on Nov.13) as well as failures on the microphone, on the phone jack and on the vibration device. Since upgraded to IOS 8.1.3 the vibration was restored but no changes to the other items. I have tried every single solution found here for two years now and no success. I have also checked on the Genius Bar at an Apple Store in London and they said the defects were too extense and problably due to hardware failure, so they would have to replace it. I couldn't get a replace because my phone was bought in the USA and in Brazil Apple don't replace phones you bought overseas, so I'm stuck with this crap which I can only use on speakerphone....

Feb 20, 2015 12:32 AM in response to LukeJy0206by jrabenson,if something is grayed out, then there is some software bit that's locking it. from here: Use Touch ID on iPhone and iPad - Apple Support
5. Tap Settings > Touch ID & Passcode and make sure that iPhone Unlock or iTunes & App Store is on. Also make sure that you've enrolled one or more fingerprints.
I didn't realize this, but app store needs to be on too? I must've been already logged in when I got mine to work.
So... Unlock your phone, turn all pass codes off (turn them off on the SIM also) . Restart your phone. You shouldn't have to enter any pass codes to get into it. Turn the app store on (I'm not sure what that means exactly, but go to settings-> scroll down to Apple store and turn on location settings, use cell data, background refresh... at least for the test). Go to the app and scroll to the bottom of the home page and sign in. Just for good measure, be sure your iCloud settings are accessible and you have signed in there too. If you have signed in, sign out and sign in again (same account both places). Yeah, voodoo but it's worth a shot.
Hopefully that will 'un-gray' the setting and you can start to get it set up.
Other than that, I'm fresh out of suggestions.
Good luck.

Feb 20, 2015 3:44 AM in response to jrabensonby guimartins,Hello friend. Thank you for your kind help. However, it didn't worked for me. My phone probably falls under No 7 on that list: "If you can't enroll any of your fingers, take your device to an Apple Retail Store, Apple Authorized Service Provider, or contact AppleCare for help." Best regards, G

Mar 25, 2015 4:15 PM in response to Zeonpaladinby tribone2010,Ok. So this happened to me today. Everything was working fine and all of a sudden my phone froze and I couldn't restart it, access the home screen, pick up the phone, or anything. My phone would ring and I could hear my alerts and notifications and nothing would work. I couldn't swipe the screen or anything. Even my Bluetooth headset got disconnected. Then out of nowhere, it came back up but now my Touch ID would no longer work.
So I went to Settings -> Touch ID & Passcode -> typed in my passcode and noticed that the section with iPhone Unlock and iTunes & App Store were both off so I tried to turn it on and I got the same message everyone is getting where it FAILED and try again.
I tried powering the phone off and on a few times and that didn't work. Same thing.
Then I did a restore from iTunes and that didn't work either.
So I decided to do a Restore and chose New Phone Setup - that didn't even let me set it up during setup. Once I finished setting up the phone, I went to Settings up like I had before, and got the same message about it FAILING.
I had given up by now - 4 hours troubleshooting was enough for one device for me - so I did another restore but this time I chose an iCloud Backup that had been done at Midnight that same day so that way I wouldn't have to go looking for my Apps all over again. And BOOM - there it was, I was now able to setup my Touch ID.
Now I don't if it was coincidence that it worked or maybe you have to do a Restore As New Phone first and then Restore to Previous Backup. Either way, I hope this helps.

May 7, 2015 7:47 AM in response to RoMyo Ahmedby stephenfromcleveland,★HelpfulThis is generally an initialization issue. If you replace the digitizer/LCD assembly. you need to disconnect the battery when reconnecting the fingerprint sensor/home button. This powers off the device and allows it to cold boot after the repair. It will then initialize the fingerprint sensor. If the battery is not disconnected and the FPS is connected it may not initialize resulting in this error. Perform the repair following these steps.
1. disconnect the lcd/digitizer/fps assembly
2. remove battery power cable cover
3. disconnect battery
4 reconnect battery after a few seconds(DO NOT POWER PHONE ON or touch home button)
5. reconnect lcd/digitizer/fps connections
6 power on phone
7 test
8 final screws

Jun 13, 2015 3:23 PM in response to Zeonpaladinby GeorgeAsd,Why Apple don't solve this issue through a new software update, or new IOS? fingerprint worked in older software. Can we ask them to do that somehow ?

Jun 22, 2015 1:09 PM in response to Zeonpaladinby raphagarcia,Same here. I'm having the same problem with my iPhone 6+ w/iOS 8.3 (12F70) installed.
Actually, my Touch ID don't work at all. When I try to swipe the checkbox on, the iPhone returns me the following message:
"FAILED. Unable to complete Touch ID setup. Please go back and try again."
I did it. Many times. Already tried the Lock+Home reboot and it's not working. I'm really worried if there's a problem inside my iPhone or it's just a bug. I really don't know what else I can do to solve this problem.

Jun 27, 2015 7:57 AM in response to raphagarciaby Evelynyu06,I have the same problem but it will be solved if you do this, click the home button and start button at the same time until the phone restart.
Problem solved, trust me on this.
