IIn ios7 i had the toggle option for 3G and if I switched it off i was able to use 2g,but in iOS 8 the toggle option is for lte and in india we don't get lte band and my phone picks up 3G as default and im not able to use or switch to 2g,can someone help me here?

I have checked with almost all carrier iphone users they say same problem, so i think its nothing to do with carrier its Apple which needs to solve it

its the issue with apple, we need the option to turn off 3g.
Apple please fix this.

This did not work for me mate. Tried everything suggested in this thread and what I was able to google to no avail.
Well, finally managed to downgrade to iOS 7.1.2 using the CDMA version of the firmware although my phone is a GSM one ! Go figure ! What matters is that I'm happy to have the 3G toggle back 😎
wait! are you saying that Cellular Data cannot be turned off? i travel internationally several times a year. i have to use this option or the bill is astronomical!
The Cellular Data can be turned off. What we are discussing here is that you cannot switch between 3G and 2G network mode as the toggle for the 3G has been removed from iOS8.

my friends have 3g toggle though they have updated to ios 8 but i dont have that toggle

you cannot manually update - Apple will release the update as in iOS 8 no Carrier update was released separately - so it's up to Apple to sort this out. And in all probability it will, sooner rather than later. It's a mistake Apple made that's all.
Your friends have the same 3G toggle Option like in 7.1.2 ? and no LTE toggle ? Which Carrier & which city ? please recheck & revert. Thanks
