You can contact your carrier and see if they will issue an "update" of their carrier settings that will allow you to turn off 3G and revert to 2G. Or you can get a different phone. I really don't see the point to spend that much for an phone and then use it on 2G so maybe you should sell it and buy an older phone.

Deggie, can't you see the point we all love Apple for its high quality services like Siri, iCloud, iMessage, but most of them are subject to having an internet access. So for me it's a dead end, either I will use all these remarkable features and have my battery dead in several hours or I do not use them at all and then what will be the difference between iPhone or android for me. And as I posted earlier both android and windows phone let you to switch easily from 2g to 3G and even 4g if you need. In my country neither authorized reseller nor my carrier could fix the issue and both of them said it was from Apple

The cellular switch on the iPhone is defined within the carrier settings. This is how the iPhone works so despite what your carrier is telling you they had a hand in this. If you try to roll your phone back to iOS 7.1.2 you will also need to obtain the old carrier settings profile. Or you will have to switch to Android or Windows.

Ok let it be true that you are saying, even after that is it so hard for Apple to fix the problem from their side.

I did it, I even talked to apple care about this issue, but its useless. I really liked apple so much, but the way they are taking this issue, its disappointing. Anyway, thank you for the link.

These all features were working so accurately on 2G also. Well, we had an option to turn on 2G whenever we would want to save the battery life. But 3G mahn its just useless to have 3G 24/7 on a phone which has battery of 1500mhz only. I use wifi at home, no probz, but what if I am travelling? And my all businesses are on emails, I can not even turn off my data. Apple has gone too far to think that disabling 2G will work with all the countries. I believe a phone should be such that is flexible to be used in all networks, whether its 2G, 3G, or 4G plus networks. Users must have freedom in phone to select any of these, which android gives. Mahn I really love apple, but not anymore after iOS 8. Lets see the next update, if it is not resolved then I have no option but to say good bye to my iPhone.

Deggie, you are not getting the point here. The question is, why the toggle of 2G and 3G, even 4G plus networks in android is possible but not in iOS8? Why in android there is no need to have carrier update for turining off and on of 2G and 3G and only in iOS? I am sure apple had something in mind while designing this new iOS, but lets accept the fact that it becomes the inconvenience for many apple user across the world. I really love apple products, I would prefer apple products for sure in future, because I find no other products can come in comparison with apple, but I would not prefer iPhone until and unless this problem is solved by apple itself. We are just trying here to bring this issue in highlight that iOS designers can see it and fix this issue. If this problem is permanent, then I am sure apple has to lose many of its' users all over the world.

I do get the point. iOS has always had only one cellular toggle. Back when i had my iPhone 3G I could turn off 3G and go the 2G. With the iPhone 5 I could turn off LTE and revert to AT&Ts "4G". Same with my 6 Plus. This is set in carrier settings. If your provider is now offering 4G/LTE then the carrier settings set the single toggle from 4G/LTE to 3G. It has always been this way with iOS and iPhones.

It is not true, the option of changing the signal was introduced with the new ios 8, and not by the operator, I guess Apple thinks 3g netvork everywhere in the world is well covered as it is in America, Western Europe and other developed countries ... I am few days used ios8 and then I went back to 7.1.2 and now I use it and will be used until not officially return option 2g / 3g ...

Anybody legitimately using it couldn't comment here due to their NDA and the rules here don't allow discussing beta software.

Now my post got deleted, because I was 'ranting' , aka saying the truth about how Apple treats their users lately. This at least shows that someone is reading this thread. Thank you God !

Teralv, we will soon find out, if they keep the release date of 20th of October. Still you can google around for whats in the beta.
