Call it what you want, but the carrier is the one that controls that toggle. If you want it brought back, then you need to talk to your carrier, not Apple.

S is correct there was no Carrier update pushed & like other comments, from Turkey & Indonesia, my Carrier doesn't even provide LTE to mobile users, as of now. What you State makes sense, but i called Apple India Support on morning of 18 Sept. & they assured me a solution would be found. Now, if it was solely the responsibility of the Carrier, Support would have been extremely forthright about that. So, there is something which confuses me too.

thanks a ton!spoke to the apple cs and they said they'd raise the issue!

Rohith & Chaitnya - i spoke with Gayatri at Apple Support on 18 Sept 2014 around 10 am, she is the second level officer incharge & again in evening, after speaking with different Carrier staff. Gayatri promised that they will find a solution. Seems like Apple did something in a hurry.

No it is the problem of ios8. Apple must fix it. G3 is provided by carrier and it is there but toggle button is not there. iOS 8 is not good.

Woah woah, just a second, carrier is always open to give u 3g lte or 2g as per the mode you set it on phone, I think you know this already. I think the restriction happens only on 5s and above where LTE is included. I tried the same iOS8 on 4s and found the enable 3g is present else its always use 2g. And on my 5s only enable LTE is there else by default it use 3G.both phone from same carrier, So its nothing to do with the carrier.

6 n 6+ got enough battery power to handle always in 3g or lte option where as 5S doesn't. Apple should have considered this during the initial analysis itself. There is no point being harsh on me,  am just saying based on user perspective

    Thanks

I am surprised to see how the original poster was treated earlier. It is apparent from this many posts that it is a design problem with iOS 8 and not the carrier.

Sometimes Apple fails to understand their users' needs. In many countries, it is vital to switch between 2G/3G as and when necessary. Take my example, 3G often (mostly) gives a weak signal strength, heats up the phone and also drains the battery quickly. So I always keep it on 2G unless necessary.

What happens now is, even if I am not using Cellular Data, my calls are affected because of weaker network. Some people are suggesting changing packs, it is a good workaround. I am in middle of the road, I need 3G to quickly check out some navigation, at such time I cannot go on changing my data pack!

I am sure Apple is going to bring back this option in the next update. However, It would be even better if a patch is rolled out just for this. It is very important to me and other thousands of other users.

All those missing the 3G toggle in iOS 8 - here's a solution to try.

Mostly, everybody updated over the air(OTA) over Wi-Fi, something broke there & quite possibly also missed the included Carrier update.

As iOS 8 is a major jump try Restoring thru iTunes, it works, you could also download the Firmware_restore file for your model

& use Shift/Option Click in iTunes. Remember to backup your device in iTunes first.

Another Option is to go to an Authorized Apple Service Center & they will do it for you - tested & works - you get your 3G toggle back in iOS 8

Let's restrict this to Indian users of Vodafone and Airtel - as Apple Authorised Centres have solved it for them, in iOS 8, and they've

got their 3G toggle back. Users of other Carriers internationally may have a different experience.

I Saw you have repeated your answer manytimes that its carrier and not apple. Let me tell even i am completely in love with apple and their working process. I spoke to my carrier and they are not aware of this software update. And they shouldnt be. Apple or any other company study requirements and ability of carriers average and then probably should design. This is a big failure as maps. Your answere are at all not helping and are directionless. Please if there is anybody out there from apple can help.

I have not done so, but 3 of my friends have, as i have decided to stay downgraded on 7.1.2.

As, i suggested earlier you can call the Authorised Service Center & they will do it for you.

You can decide what you want to do - they charge a small fee for doing that, so please confirm charges & other details, when you call them.

Don't waste time and wait for update to 8.0

It is a 'bug' at Apple's end and Operators are not involved.
