How do I use 2g on iOS 8?

More than likely what has happened is that you also received a carrier update with the iOS update. The ability to toggle 3G or LTE rests with the carrier. If the carrier update changed that, there is nothing that you can do.

That is some b$. Not being able to turn off 3G and go back to 2G takes out the crap of my battery. It has always been like that. And yes, my carrier's network is complete klunk. Still the option to turn on/off the cellular data MUST be brought back ! OR, do I have to seek ways to downgrade to iOS7 ? Such a bull from Apple !

P.S> I'm downloading the 7.1.2 restore and will definitely get rid of this iOS8 crap

Call it what you want, but the carrier is the one that controls that toggle. If you want it brought back, then you need to talk to your carrier, not Apple.

Strange that my carrier would push its users to utilize their overcrowded, klunky 3G network resulting in awful customer experience, which will lead to switching providers. That equals a headshot ! And I am sure this will be resolved soon enough by the original culprit - iKlunky Apple

I told you before, Apple has nothing to do with it, the carriers do. So, Apple cannot resolve anything here, unless the carrier provides another carrier update.

Okay, for the sake of it, I will believe you. Still I would like to downgrade. And I cannot do it when its been the first day of iOS8! Now who to blame ( me excluded for jumping out of joy into this Apple trap ! ) that I cannot revert so soon after upgrading ? Guess that will be my last iDevice or whatever.

Downgrading is not supported by Apple and cannot be done. Contact your carrier.

Your Carrier, not Apple. Not sure which part of those four words you are having trouble with.

Also there is no way of returning to 7.1.2 now you have updated to iOS8

I will tell you with what part. It is called Freedom and Apple has a long way to go to understand that. Just as long as it took them to get from 4'' to 4.7'' + in screen size, maybe even more. Honestly the only thing that kept me with this company was the Customer Service and build quality. But that is not all that is to a smartphone these days. Apple will get it one day.

I find it almost humorous that you will take all this time to bash Apple about something that your sub-standard carrier has done rather than address the issue with them. Besides the fact that you admit to a carrier that does not support things, you are probably using a grey market phone that is not designed to be used with your carrier, since they cannot support the phone. Good luck.

Well, that made me laugh as well. Grey is not something you have in your head I guess, but it is definitely not the phone I am using. Nice try putting in on me and the phone, which by the way was warranty replaced due to that volume+ button suddenly deciding to stop working after an year. And I said it is the 3G network that is crappy. Nowhere did it say or warn me I would get a carrier update. Was I supposed to know that in advance ? And good luck to you too. ps. If you change phones to say an Android, then you will still have the 3G issue because it is your carrier. Did we mention that? Perhaps ring them and complain?

Pete, I do have an Android phone with the same carrier. And can safely switch networks from the OS (v 4.1.1), not my carrier. Another - for Apple. But again, it may just be my sub-par carrier. Sadly I do not live in the Mighty States after all.
