Sep 17, 2014 5:04 PM in response to steven124by Jktcktt,Same problem here. Currently, if you sign into manage the icloud account online, the birthday appears to be changeable. After changing the birthday to the correct one for my son, there is some wording at the bottom that "changing the birthday is not yet available" or something like that. It alludes to the possibility in the future, which, like you am in the same boat. I have three kids I want to take advantage of the parental enhancements, but Apple failed on this one. Did they not think there were parents out there who setup child accounts?
Based on the wording, I am guessing it is something they plan on doing, but who knows when it will happen. I would setup a new account, but his email is already associated with the icloud account, so setting up a new account just to create a "kid" account is not something I want to do quite yet, unless it becomes a problem.
For now, we cannot change the birthday. It looks like we have two options, wait and hope it is changeable in the near future or create a new account with a new email.

Sep 17, 2014 5:36 PM in response to steven124by R. Watson,★HelpfulI just updated my children's ages to 13, even though they are younger, so that I can start family sharing. I am not sure what functionality I am losing by doing this, but the "ask to buy" feature works. I hope that Apple will come up with a way to change their birthdays to the correct one -- I had their AppleIDs engraved on the back of their iPods and changing them is not an option.

Sep 21, 2014 7:17 PM in response to steven124by auribe14,Adding to this so I can also get the response, too.
My oldest had the date of 0000, which was changed to his correct year (older than 13) correctly. The younger two, set up later, have actual years but they are wrong. I can't change the to the younger age from their accounts because it needs adult permission.

Oct 9, 2014 11:36 AM in response to steven124by javierplumey,To anyone following, Apple support told me on the phone that if the ID was created via Family Sharing, the birth date cannot be changed.

Oct 19, 2014 9:08 AM in response to steven124by ChevereV,Go to appleid.apple.com and sign in as your son. Then select the "Password and Security" section on the left hand navigation. There you should find the birthday and you can change it. Hope this helps.

Nov 3, 2014 6:50 AM in response to ChevereVby javierplumey,You cannot change the birthdate if the child account was created through Family Sharing within iOS. I have spoken with Apple on the phone and they confirmed this. If the account was created outside of Family Sharing, then your instructions will work assuming you've logged into the Apple ID web site as the child account.

Nov 30, 2014 9:27 AM in response to steven124by Foofy2005,I Have a similar problem but I'm listed as a kid on ICloud when I am over 13 because my mom doesn't know the difference between me and my brother but I can't chance the birthday and my mom can't either. What do I do?

Dec 25, 2014 6:47 AM in response to steven124by janny_bean,I hope they figure this out soon so that you can change the birthday even if the ID was created in family sharing. Such a simple thing.

Jan 31, 2015 2:26 PM in response to steven124by HeaterApp,This is very frustrating. Changing a child's birthday on an Apple ID should not be a security issue or an issue at all. Creating a new ID is not an option, because you will lose all the in-app purchases for the original ID. These ID's were created before Family Sharing, so Apple needs to pull their head out and fix this ASAP. In addition, Apple needs to add under "Restrictions" on your phone an option to turn on/off a credit card for purchases.

Mar 11, 2015 12:07 PM in response to steven124by alex_h1,Hey steven124,
If a child’s birthday on their Apple ID account had previously been entered incorrectly when setting up Family Sharing, you can now change that birthdate by following the information in the article below.
Update the birth date associated with your Apple ID - Apple Support
Take care,
Alex H.
