Apple ID verification code for two step-verification arrives every twenty minutes to my phone, it will not stop

I decided to try and set up Apple two step verification for my account today, received the SMS, but decided to not complete the process.

I decided to wait until Friday and do it with the new phone so that the upgrade and reloading of the new phone would be complete.

Now I am getting a verification code every 20 minutes. How do I stop it?

iPad Air Wi-Fi, iOS 7.1

Thanks for the question. I would recommend completing the two-step verification process and then changing the SMS number associated once you upgrade:
