iOS 8 custom keyboards won't load

I am using iOS 8 on an iPhone 5. When I switch to an installed keyboard such as Swype or SwiftKey, the keyboard area goes gray and has no buttons. If the keyboard is closed, it will not open at all. Only way to fix is to go back to settings and delete the custom keyboards.

Any suggestions?

Same issue here with both of those apps. I have deleted them from settings, uninstalled the app, hard reset the device and nothing has fixed it. I either have a blank gray screen where the keyboard should be or the keyboard won't come up at all, just a blinking cursor in the text field taunting me. This is definitely an issue but it seems like I'm taking crazy pills because I see no blogs or articles on this. Calling AppleCare tomorrow...
