Q: Photos out of order in Events after iOS 8 update

I have an iPhone 5s that I just updated to iOS 8.  I sync photos from my Aperture library on my Mac, which show up as a "Events From My Mac" album under "Albums" in the Photos app on my iPhone.  In iOS 7 and before, events synced from Aperture would show in reverse chronological order, which made sense.  Upon updating to iOS 8, all the events are in a random order.  I have events from 2008, followed by 2010, then 2009, then 2012, then 2008, etc...

Has anyone else run into this issue?  I know that I'll probably have to resort to telling iTunes to stop syncing photos, delete the "iPod Photo Sync" folder from inside the Aperture package, then re-sync all the photos, but before I go through all that trouble, I was hoping someone might have an easy fix.

iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9.4)

I had this problem after going on IOS 8 . All the Event and the Face Album were Scramble after downloading IOS 8 on my Ipad, I call Apple.ca and after they transfer me to US it was september 17. They took a copy of my Imac and they are working on my problem. I send an other email today October 01 and i am waiting for an answer. I think they have a bug with IOS 8 and Photos out of order Event and Faces.

I told them that i have an other problem in ITunes  on my Ipad on the Same Album that purchase in Itunestore i can see may be 8 songs that i see the picture of the album but for 2-3 songs the picture is missing.

My Wand app had a similar issue in iOS 8 and I promptly got a response from their developers that said that, "NSSortDescriptor is treating the photo indices as a string instead of a number during sorting" and they sent me a beta version of the app that corrected the problem!  So you could try checking if your apps have been updated in case Apple does not provide an general iOS fix.

This is so frustrating! UGH!!!!  I specifically bought the 128GB iphone 6 so that I could have all of my photo Events with me and easily accessible as my old 64GB phone wasn't big enough.  Now iphoto just makes it all a mess and I have tried re-syncing and wiping the phone a few times already to no avail.  This makes my picture accessibility useless!  I hope this gets fixed ASAP! If not I'll be looking and moving away from Apple entirely- I made the move to all Apple three years ago due to it's intuitiveness but am now feeling like it's imprisoning!

HHave a feeling events will be put into moments and broken up when Yosemite comes out. So I just put all my events into albums, just synced them  and they stay in order now. Plus with albums you can re arrange them too. And since the new photos app will include albums as an option, they should carry over. Only way I see to be safe so as not to lose my events. I'd take the time to do this if I were you. Doesn't really take too long.

Are you using face recognition, and if so, are that in order as well? Mine are out of order, like with moments!

So are you saying that you put each event in its own separate album, or all events into one album?

In iphoto i always go to see them by Event and each Event are classify by date and Title

    ex. 2014-10-28 Party at Home

Since Ios 8 it is scramble on my ipad (IOS 8,02) but still ok on Iphoto on my Imac and ok with iphone 4 (IOS7)

Each time that i connect my Iphone to my Imac, iphoto ask me do you want to import your photo from your iphone, and you have a place to who is written Give a name to your Event (ex 2014-10-28 New years) and after that all your event are organise ex. 2014-10-28 """ 2014-09-15""" ext. it is very easy

but why have they made it so much harder? My earlier versions all did this indirectly on date. I just named the eg Christmas -13,  San francisco -14 etc and this was fine as long as I ordered them manually in iPhoto. You say this isn't going to be possible anymore. I just ask why?  It's not rocket science

BBecause apple is apparently doing away with events in favor of moments and collections. Put your events in albums or you'll lose them. Still have the photos but they'll be organized by date and location. Just sayin

I moved mine all into albums in iPhoto. That way, I was able to group them into year folders as well. Not only that, but by syncing albums instead of events, they show up a level higher in the mains "Albums" tab list not under "Events from my Mac". And most important of all is that they are now in exactly the right order, same as they are in iPhoto.

It's a pity there is no thumbnail view of albums in iPhoto though like you can with events.

I'm assuming that the new Yosemite likes Albums more than Events?
