Q: Photos out of order in Events after iOS 8 update

I have an iPhone 5s that I just updated to iOS 8.  I sync photos from my Aperture library on my Mac, which show up as a "Events From My Mac" album under "Albums" in the Photos app on my iPhone.  In iOS 7 and before, events synced from Aperture would show in reverse chronological order, which made sense.  Upon updating to iOS 8, all the events are in a random order.  I have events from 2008, followed by 2010, then 2009, then 2012, then 2008, etc...

Has anyone else run into this issue?  I know that I'll probably have to resort to telling iTunes to stop syncing photos, delete the "iPod Photo Sync" folder from inside the Aperture package, then re-sync all the photos, but before I go through all that trouble, I was hoping someone might have an easy fix.

Yeah, I think someone earlier in the thread had mentioned something similar; other apps that need to reference the photos on the iPhone show the Events in the correct order.  It seems to be just the Photos app that has randomized the order of Events.  Here's to hoping it gets fixed in iOS 8.1, which will probably be released in the next couple weeks.

I couldn't have stated the problem better than you.  It's exactly the same for me except I have about 25% less photos/events.

Why can't these events be loaded on the iPad in alphabetical order?  Very very annoying.

I use 3rd party calendar apps (Week Cal) on my Mac/iPad/iPhone to have better presentation of the calendar, BUT, are only a presentation tool.  They use the came calendar database and iCloud calendar.  Does something like this exist for iPhone on the iPad/iPhone?

I have a similar problem with my ipad4. I purchased this to be able to show photos in the order I want. I organise in albums, the photos being in file name order within the album. Everything is ok UNTIL you edit a photo, which I do on my PC. It may be saved with the same filename but when synced via itunes the photo is placed at the end of the album. This makes the slideshow feature redundant as I cannot dictate the order.

If I view in photos view then the edited photos are under a different date so making this view impossible to navigate, as the edited photos are no longer shown at the date they were originally taken. This means that the photo view  of moments etc is not fit for purpose.

Whichever way I try to view my photos I apparently have no control, contrary to the much heralded advertising for Ios8.

It seems I purchased a very expensive device, that originally worked well, but now is only fit for the rubbish bin.

Alright, so iOS 8.1 will be out on Monday.  If anyone installs it and tries syncing photos from their computer, please report back and let us know how it goes!

They announced today that they were bringing back camera roll.  Clearly they heard from users.  I'd guess we'll get a better sort., the who knows when "Photos" replaces iPhoto next year.

Does anyone know how to get photos onto the iPhone without having to use iPhoto or the Photos App?  For example, if i just move all of my photos into files under Documents as .jpgs so that they no longer live in iPhoto, is there still a a way to sync them with iTunes so that I can access them on my phone just a .jpg file?  Does this make sense?  With all of these iPhoto issues, I don't want my pictures to live in iPhoto any longer as I feel like it's giving up control of what happens to them since there is the potential that Apple will get rid of Events all together.  Bottom line, I don't really care about photo editing or iPhoto, I just want a means to be able to always view all of my pics in an organized manner on my phone.

Maybe anyone doesn't understand your question, or the answer is to easy. In iTunes simply choose Folder instead of iPhoto.

With IOS8.1 the camera roll should find the way back. When I use iExporer to browse through my iPhone, I can see the folder 'camera roll' already in IOS8.02, but the pics in the photostream are unsorted. That is the same behavior you can already see in contacts (but without camera roll). So I think tomorrow, we will get back camera roll, sorted events, sorted faces, but unsorted photostream.

Well, it is not fixed right after updating. I am deleting all photos now and will try re-syncing them. I'll let you know if that'll be any help.

Thanks for the update!  ****, that doesn't bode well, but hopefully a full delete/sync will fix it.  Please keep us apprised of your progress.  Thanks again!

I'm sure you already know this, but make sure to delete the "iPod Photo Cache" folder too, before syncing photos back to your iPhone, just in case.

Well, I'm lucky I only tried with a few Events at first and didn't wait until they all got synced. Long story short: did not work. *****. ****** off right here.

With Camera Roll and everything back I really had hope in this one.

A little addition: I also still have the wallpaper issue where wallpapers will be zoomed in/cropped differently after restarting the iPad.

Yes, I have done so before and will do it again. I mean, really though, this can't be too hard?!

Now I have to sync one event at a time again to get them back in the right order. Godamnit...

They're deleting everything with that address in it these days.... I've experienced it myself

I was really hoping we wouldn't have to wait for iOS 8.1.1 (or forever) for a fix!!

I just got an e-mail from Apple saying they removed my post because it contained a petition.  I'm not sure if it was automatically removed because I included links so I'll try again without links.

Everyone, please submit feedback to Apple regarding this photo syncing issue and also e-mail the CEO!
