Q: Photos out of order in Events after iOS 8 update

I have an iPhone 5s that I just updated to iOS 8.  I sync photos from my Aperture library on my Mac, which show up as a "Events From My Mac" album under "Albums" in the Photos app on my iPhone.  In iOS 7 and before, events synced from Aperture would show in reverse chronological order, which made sense.  Upon updating to iOS 8, all the events are in a random order.  I have events from 2008, followed by 2010, then 2009, then 2012, then 2008, etc...

Has anyone else run into this issue?  I know that I'll probably have to resort to telling iTunes to stop syncing photos, delete the "iPod Photo Sync" folder from inside the Aperture package, then re-sync all the photos, but before I go through all that trouble, I was hoping someone might have an easy fix.

As mentioned earlier, they delete every post with the dear CEOs mail address in it. Happened to me and someone else a while ago in this thread as well.

Pre iOS8.x I also synced my photos as events from Aperture. The way I retained my order is by creating an intelligent album for each event, that includes all images from said event. Now, I sync all intelligent albums and get them in the order I want.

Doing so let's you still manage the images in the events, but have them as sorted as albums on the device.

I am having the same issue. iOS 5 left all my thumbnails set as the respective event´s first picture, and it has remained like that ever since. And now this?! Gahhh

Sooo, after several tries, IOS 8.1 does not fix the problem... still all events in random orders on different devices.

Has anyone experienced not syncing events but folders on the HDD? Since there won't be any professional photo tools after discontinuing  Aperture I really think about a switch to Adobe Lightroom. Wonder if the folders will also appear in random order.

Think that IOS 8.X is the biggest sh** ever released by the fruit company

Could someone please test faces with IOS8.1, if they are in correct order.

Thanks for testing, then I have to wait for 8.2, or maybe have to switch to android, because apple gets even worse.

It seems that the only way to get it right is to put events in smart albums and sync only the albums.

Problem is that I have 271 events in iPhoto.

Does anyone know how to quickly make smart albums of these separate events?

The faces are still out of order as well in the Photos interface with iOS 8.1

As I pointed out in a previous post in this thread, the order is screwed up only in the display of the events/faces in Photos. I use a manual ordering of my events in Aperture, and they are correctly sorted in some applications (even some made by Apple, such as the image picker to choose a picture for a contact in contacts !). so the ordering information is not lost in the photo DB, it is just NOT applied correctly in the Photos display...

My bet is that it may be fixed  in 8.1.1. 8.1 was more a "feature release" with Apple Pay and the like, more than a maintenance release (except for the camera roll ;-)

Anyone reading those lines, please go to the Apple feedback web form and give feedback !

Will go fill in a bug report now. Really, this is just s ridiculous fault for Apple to allow. It's one of the big selling points of a smart phone - the ability to view your photos on it. But with such completely broken and random ordering - different across different devices - regardless of the fact that your events in iPhoto are 100% correct is just crazy. Right now, Photos on my iPad and my iPhone are almost completely unusable.

I think I've filled out that form five times now. That would almost be funny if it wasn't so sad that it's still an ongoing issue.

Would be interested in hearing if anybody has upgraded to Yosemite and if Events sync properly within it.
