Q: Photos out of order in Events after iOS 8 update

I have an iPhone 5s that I just updated to iOS 8.  I sync photos from my Aperture library on my Mac, which show up as a "Events From My Mac" album under "Albums" in the Photos app on my iPhone.  In iOS 7 and before, events synced from Aperture would show in reverse chronological order, which made sense.  Upon updating to iOS 8, all the events are in a random order.  I have events from 2008, followed by 2010, then 2009, then 2012, then 2008, etc...

Has anyone else run into this issue?  I know that I'll probably have to resort to telling iTunes to stop syncing photos, delete the "iPod Photo Sync" folder from inside the Aperture package, then re-sync all the photos, but before I go through all that trouble, I was hoping someone might have an easy fix.

iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9.4)

I've done exactly that. Wrong ordering was happening in Mavericks and now in Yosemite, and now in Yosemite syncing to iOS8.1.

    Search your photo library.

Now you can search all the photos and videos on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. Search by the date the photo was taken, location, or album name. Whether you’re at work, on the train, at a restaurant, or on vacation, finding a photo has never been simpler.

I think they have to write:

I have the exact same issue, it has got to be a bug and it has got to get fixed.

The silence is deafening. I was hoping that 8.1 would resolve the events out of order issue. It did however seem to resolve the stuttering as I scroll through my out of order events. Anyone else experience anything different?

Has anyone switched over to iCloud Photo Library? I haven't been able to find a clear answer as to whether my Events and other organization will be preserved if I move my library. Honestly I have been looking forward to freeing up space on my devices with the new service, but every view I see of it just shows the big photo shoebox view, with no clarification on how user-controlled photo grouping is migrated over, if at all.

I switched to the iCloud library. By doing so, iOS warns you that all synced photos on the device will be deleted.

The albums you use via the iCloud library can be manipulated like albums created on the device, so sorting should be no problem. The thing is though that you can't (yet?) upload images from the browser. Since all my photos are synced from Aperture, they're not in my Camera Roll anymore, which right now is the only way to upload photos to iCloud. That's why I switched back to synced events.

By the way, even though upon activation, iOS deletes all synced photos (events & albums) you can force sync them on the device after activiation of the iCloud library. I don't know if this is a bug. The result is you have a fully working iCloud photo library and every new entry in the Camera Roll will be uploaded as well as newly created albums while you still have your synced albums via iTunes.

So for me it sounds like, that you have to spend a lot of time and money, that you can use iCloud. As a result, you can have all the features, that a normal IOS7 user have, but with the addition, that the NSA has better access to your photos.

This is not a fix BUT if you go to SETTINGS>WALLPAPER>CHOOSE A NEW WALLPAPER and scroll down to PHOTOS,  I think you will find all of your Events in the right order and Faces in the correct alphabetical order as well.  Why the PHOTOS app can't display them right is beyond me.

I can confirm this.  After my shared events, the events from my Mac DO show in the proper chronological order as well as faces being in alphabetical order.
