Q: i can't boot bootcamp

Hi everyone! windows 7 has been working great. A couple days ago i resized the partition because it was to small using mini tools partition resizer. I tried using it again today and when i moved the empty partition in OS X using disk utilities (to make it bigger) and went to reboot in to windows, windows wasn't there any more, my only boot options are macintosh HD and recovery, i don't know what went wrong or what to do. I only want to reinstall as last resort. the disk is still there in disk utility but it is not bootable.

please help

    2. sudo fdisk /dev/disk0

    3. sudo gpt -vv -r show /dev/disk0

How can a Windows partition be resized after Windows is installed?

You need to delete the Windows partition using the Boot Camp Assistant, and start over to change the size of the Windows partition. Back up your important Windows files first.

The warning from sudo means that if you use it inappropriately, you can cause problems. The output from these commands should give  picture of what has happened. I always recommend against such partition resizing, because such tools only look at one side, not the other.

Windows partitioning touches the MBR only, and the Disk Utility touches the GPT only. They get out of sync and the disharmony causes your Windows installation to disappear.

The only tool that I know works consistently is Winclone.

The forum has issues with images. Is it possible to share them via an external image sharing site and a link, like IMGUR?

Your Windows NTFS header is corrupted. You may have to use Testdisk to find deleted partitions. - http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk_Step_By_Step

If you download the Intel version (I have downloaded v7.0, you can download 6.1.4) in the Downloads directory, then

    1. ls testdisk-7.0-WIP.mac_intel.tar.bz2

    testdisk-7.0-WIP.mac_intel.tar.bz2

    2. bunzip2 testdisk-7.0-WIP.mac_intel.tar.bz2

    3. ls testdisk-7.0-WIP.mac_intel.tar

    testdisk-7.0-WIP.mac_intel.tar

    4. tar tvf testdisk-7.0-WIP.mac_intel.tar

    6. You can run it as ./testdisk-7.0-WIP/testdisk

    7. There is an example on the Testdisk web site of a step-by-step NTFS recovery that you can follow.

Ok! test disk is running but i don't know what to do now. The step by step things aren't much help, after creating a log i have 2 options, "disk /dev/disk2 - 104 MB /100 MiB (RO)" and then i have "Disk /dev/rdisk2 - 104 MB /100 MiB (RO). which one is the correct one?

    You need to use

    sudo ./testdisk-7.0-WIP/testdisk
