Q: So I upgraded to icloud drive. How do I undo this? I need to sync my devices.

I have an iphone 5s, ipad mini, ipad air, imac and when upgrading to ios 8 I accidentally clicked yes for icloud drive. Now everything is all over and no longer on my apps. How can I make this work???? Or can I just delete icloud drive?

Help!

basically i've been told you can't. I have the same problem. I didn't realize that iCloud drive wouldn't work with my computer and now I can't sync my documents. and turning off iCloud drive doesn't work. i also can't restore from back up b/c that won't solve the problem apparently. the only option is to download yosemite beta from what i've been told

this is quite the fail by apple. their warning wasn't sufficient: it should have said "icloud drive is not available for mac yet, so don't upgrade to icloud drive on your iphone or ipad until yosemite comes out."

here's my workaround: open pages or numbers or whatever, select all the files, and drag them to dropbox. i created a folder called "iCloud_files" where they'll sit until i can get a full-release version of yosemite. till then i can continue working from all my devices.

    hope that helps.

so I want to try your workaround but not being a computer geek...or anything close....what are the specific steps to "open pages or numbers or whatever" since I have no idea if that is a program.

Thanks for you patience and any help you can give me.

sorry for being vague. yes, pages and numbers are (respectively) the mac programs for word processing and spreadsheets. they are apps for both imacs and ipads/iphones, and they share files via icloud. that's the problem i ran into: since i upgraded to icloud drive on my iphone/ipad, i can no longer access files on my imac.

what programs do you use icloud for? that'll help me help you. =)

    have a great day!

I use it for the usual stuff....contacts, photos, calendars....and then My Docs To Go.

Contacts and Calendars are not affected, Photos are only if you also switched iCloud Photo Library on and switched Photostream off, any documents saved to iCloud by Pages, Numbers, Keynote, textedit or 3rd party apps will be affected.

Docs to Go should not be affected unless you are using iCloud storage for the files.

Csound1, so I do have to worry about MyDocsToGo.....ok, thanks.

I assume that I can transfer between by iPad and Mac as long as i don't upgrade(or click the wrong button if I upgrade)to 8...is that right?

If you do not upgrade your account to iCloud Drive it will continue to work as it does now, once all of your devices are compatible then you should switch it on.

Have a look at this support document:    iCloud Drive FAQ

What got me on this was that the "yes, upgrade" button came up on the left of the screen, the "cancel" button on the right. Whereas it is almost always always the other way around. So I instinctively went for the left button, presuming it would be the cancel option. Really bad practice to do it that way! Grrrrr.....

You may want to send feedback to the developers about this user interface inconsistency. It should be changed.
