The dictionary isn't working right

On my iPad when I select define the dictionary isn't loaded. I have updated to iOS 8. I went to manage to download the dictionary but the dictionary I use has a circle next to it instead of a download icon or a delete X (On iOS 8 on my updated iPhone it seems to work fine). I cannot find a way to reset the dictionary so it will work right or let me download it.
