Ipad mini with retina wifi extremely slow/dead after ios 8 update

Just updated my devices to iOS 8. Im having no issues with the Iphone 5s wifi works perfectly fine. But with the Ipad Mini w/ Retina I can't get any wifi. Its connected, I've reset the wifi & router. But my mini keeps saying there isnt any internet connection. Anyone else have this issue?

I have done a hard reset. It is NOT a hardware issue. I have too many iDevices with both 7 and 8 that make it obvious it is an IOS 8 issue and only and IOS 8 issue. All with 8 worked find with 7 and all with 8 have wifi issues now.

They have so many answering the Apple Care line and it's a shame they have not informed their people with details about the problems with IOS 8. If they did this right, they could ask questions that would narrow the problem down to the software bug(s) that are causing this,.

II'm sure they are iinformed...informed to say they haven't heard of it. apple wont actually admit it until it hits critical mass, and even then the would say it was a fix for a "small number of users". I've reset mine, and had a heck of a time restiring because it stops halfway through. if it does make it, good luck restoring apps, they would stop restoring and some I couldnt get at all (mostly larger games). Several blogs and sites have reported it as well, and there are far too many of us who were fine before the update, to suddenly all have hardware failure.

8.2 has gone some way to sort out my iPhone 4s, iPad 2and IPad 2 retina.

initial iOS 8 knocked out networking, resetting network settings got that back.

UNder 8.1 i did not loose them again, but Siri jumped in uninvited, as did music from music player being played during games. Other noticed issues is relectance to pick up url's on web sites like Amazin and Ebay making online shopping a real frustrating pain, but at least my bank manager has been happier 😉.

I wonder if this issue is affeting all later devices depending on the router makes?

CHangining the SSID will have 're-learned' your current network connection much the same as when reseting all the network settings, but will not have deleted all the keys of other known networks.

Be intersting to know if your device has problems when on other routers that it akready 'knows'. To get obto them you might stil have to 'forget' and 'relearn'.

Depends how many and how often you visit them, Apple should fix the bug in the near future hopefully, so your nethid might be the better option 🙂.

Even my iPad mini with retina display, does the same as yours. Takes ages for the **** thing to load, it isn't the connection problem because I tested it out on my PC the internet speed was 12mpbs at that time.If you are to visit Google or another site the loading bar on Safari goes about 1cm and gets stuck there if you leave it for about 2 minutes you can see Google loaded up. All happened after few days having iOS 8.0.2 installed on my iPad

THIS IS FRUSTRATING! I am one ****** off customer of Apple.

I have waited about almost a week before posting what has worked for me, just to make sure it still works. The 5ghz channel was set to 141, I chose a higher channel 157 or 161. So far my ipad has worked at the higher speeds for a week now. Occasionally I will have to turn the wifi off then on, and it will work again just fine.

My original problem was very slow speed and not being able to get a signal if I was not in the same room as the router, after updating to iOS8. Hope this helps!

Update*** - So after being frustrated I finally called AppleCare again and as a friend suggested I went to a Senior Advisor right away. If you have AppleCare Plus this is a great experience because they will work with you until the issue is resolved. I was bummed to have to restore my ipad and reload IOS8 fresh...we did not restore from a backup and just downloaded all of the apps fresh. Ironically the issue surfaced immiediately...which though frustrating I was happy so they could see it is connected with IOS8. I was emailed and called today...finally the issue is getting to the engineers, they confirmed other people are having this issue and had me fillout a bunch of info on my router setup...etc. He ended saying that they wouldnt leave me without a non-functioning ipad which made me feel better...not sure what that means but hey its a good sign...because a WiFI only ipad sure ***** with internet connection issues.

I am having the EXACT same issue with three IOS 8 devices, iPhone 5, iPad Mini, and iPad Air, both 8.0.0 and 8.0.2 -- no difference. Yes, stuck aat about 1cm. Facebook also stalls, as does many other apps. I'd bet the 1st cm in Safari means nothing.

Turning wireless off and on brings it back to life for a while. If it were a physical switch, it would be worn out!

godsidekurt,

I tried the same as you with same results. My two cents, the only fix is in the hands of Apple. I hope you pointed Apple to this post.
